Mick O'Dwyer..a quare fella'
After a lifetime in the backwaters of football, the sleeping giant that is Wicklow have cast off the shackles of generations and taken the scalp of Fermanagh in the qualifiers.
While Baltinglass have annexed a club title and given the world the joy that was Kevin O'Brien, has the Micko magic worked again?
Without a shadow of a doubt Micko is the Manager of all time - even with 13 men.
But, there again he's following me, in calling for 13 a side.

I heard beforehand that Fermanagh was the only county he had never encountered before either as a player or a manager! Now he's them beat and the set is complete! I wonder how many of them he hasn't beat?

My lifetime memory of the bould Micko goes back to the Semi-Final of '59 when he was deployed in the 7 jersey. If memory serves me correctly the Kerry h/b line was Seamus Murphy, Kevin Coffey and Micko.
Oposing them was the legendary Purcell at 11, Mattie Mac at 12 and the Army Captain, Joe Young at 10 (at least 6" taller than Micko) whom Micko destroyed.
Despite scoring feats in latter years as a forward, and years at the helm of teams of moderate ability, that day, in August of '59 was Micko's finest hour.
Yours in seeing legends,
