Colm Murray and MND
Sad to see Colm Murray suffering from this horrible condition. Truly dehabilitating and awful. Met him a few times (usually when he was MCing Race Days) and he is a very sound guy. Not bad with the tips either! Fighting the illness with his usual honesty and great fortitude too - and not a little wit! And has increased awareness of the disease too. Thoughts are with him. A legend of Irish racing.

Brave work by the intrepid Colm. He's declined rapidly though in a short space of time. These "experimental tests" can be sadly very detrimental when the disease has gotten a firm grip.
A good skin all the same. Luck to you Colm.

Re: Colm Murray and MND
A good friend's father has been suffering with this disease for the past few years. It really is the most horrific thing imaginable to suffer from, and one of the toughest for family and friends to deal with also.
To think that the mind is 100% functioning, yet slowly losing control of the functions of the body, all the while being fully aware of what's happening is just terrifying.
IMNDA ([You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] do excellent work with MND sufferers and their families. I met Colm Murray at an IMNDA fundraiser before Christmas 2010, and I have to say he was an absolute gent. The disease hadn't had too much of an effect on him at that stage, and to see the deterioration over the past 12 months is frightening.
