Sporting Comebacks
I made a much hyped comback into the Gaelic Football team eariler in the season, there was massive crowds and fanfare to see it too (3 old f@rts and the remains of the "ladies" football match from before).
I remembered my first game back on my return from Australia 7 years before, where i scored 2-10 in an Intermediate Hurling Championship Semi-Final and expected a similar farytale for this game.
The game started well enough with me in the half back line when i promptly went in for a tackle, totally mistimed it, cleaning out the forward, giving away a penalty and breaking 2 of my own fingers in the fall!
After this disaster i quickly retired again!
I expect some of you have simialr tales to tell, be they your own or about "a mate of mine", please share!

I remember Wexford losing a game by 10 points at half time a few seasons ago and coming back to win.

Re: Sporting Comebacks
I came back from serious injury to win a work league for my team scoring freely along the way including the winner in a 1-0 semi win but wrecked my knee and missed the final which we won 3-0. My next comeback is ahead of me but of it happens is likely to be accompanied by a life threatening episode comprising oxygen and electric shock treatment .....

Re: Sporting Comebacks
Anyone watching the National Athletics Championships last night ?
Girl from Lisburn McGeehan ? running in the 800 Metres - decided to run 400m pace for the first lap
and had a 5 yard lead on second and about 25 yards on the rest.
Coming round final bend she started to tie up to almost a jog as did the girl in second place. She ended up falling 5 yards from the line and collapsing across it- The girl who was about 30 yards behind on the final bend actually won the race.
MCgeehan then managed to dust herself down and went out and won the 1500m - Remarkable stuff.

Haven't seen or sniffed it in years. Very good for acne and throwing dogs of scent of bitches in heat. Is it still on the go?
