Re: Exams
Record low of those taking Honours Maths in the Leaving Cert; 10,400 approx from over 100,000. Disgraceful.
There can't be an engineering / science / technical degree programme in Ireland that will take on a Leaving Certer who hasn't achieved minimum C3 (55%) in Honours Maths.
What are we going to do? Grow our way out of the recession with poets and artists?
When the IT and pharmaceutical boom takes place, there'll be nobody around to take the jobs.

They're brining in a new thing over the next few years (which will include my year wooo) where you get an extra 25 points if you do honours maths to try encourage more people to do it.

Shocking 10,400 from 100,00 -that means that nearly half (or 33%) are not taking honours.

Best of luck to all here doing exams!! They are not the end of the world ...
ps On maths etc - there are not 100,000 people doing the Leaving Cert - they are the total doing state exams! There are approx 54K doing LC and 56K doing JC.
Loyal already heading for an Arts degree with this type of stat ....

Paper 1 was the dream paper, one of the essays was on social networking so happy days. Paper 2 was horrible... I'd say I got an A on paper 1 and a C on paper 2 so maybe a B might be my final grade...
That's horrible messing around with the times of the exams! Especially for something like English where you have your times planned out perfectly for your answers... Hope it will turn out ok for him.

Straight onto to Ruari Quinn RKF....Not the Dept....Ruari himself...Have this supervisor hauled up before a tribunal, the Ombudsman, the European court of human rights or whomever...This Government need to respond by noon tomorrow with the response "that after careful consideration, when markings are completed all results will be upgraded by 1...You got a C...Upgraded to a B...."
Accept no less.
