Patrick Dinsmore RIP
Tonight I was both shocked and deeply saddened to learn of the death of fellow club man Patrick Dinsmore. Paddy was a minor for Warrenpoint, studying in St. Colmans Newry and died on the football pitch against close neighbours Rostrevor. With such a big match for the county at the weekend it just brings things back into perspective. Paddy was a great young lad with much to look forward to. His early death is devistating and the thoughts of everyone within the town, as well as the county, go out to his friends and family. May he rest in peace. A real trajedy and a life taken far far too soon.

Re: Patrick Dinsmore RIP
Sorry to hear of the loss of a fellow gael Hogan - had the same tragedy in my own club a few months back as a result of a terrible car accident and its not a nice place to be.
RIP Patrick and my prayers are with your family and the entire GAA family of County Down.

God rest this young man, my thoughts are with his family, never easy when a loved one goes out to take part in their sport of choice and doesn't come back. R.I.P.

The light of Heaven to this young man. My understanding is that the very best of medical assistance was on hand all to no avail....
A sad loss to his family, sporting colleagues and all associated with the GAA in Down.

RIP Patrick Dinsmore
The flags all over the county seem to have drooped a bit at this tragic death of a young player and a fellow St. Colman's man. But when the strong winds blow over Carlingford Lough and lift the blue and white over Moygannon and the red and black all over An Dún we will remember that Paddy Dinsmore died on the sacred soil of his native club's pitch and wherever his name is mentioned let us honour him in our conduct on and off the pitch.
At a time when football seems so miniscule in the face of such a terrible event, let us remember that Patrick died doing what he loved and so Down football, the GAA as a whole, and Patrick's memory are forever linked. We will strive to honour that.
Ar dhéis Dé go raibh a anam.

Re: Patrick Dinsmore RIP
Just referring to the murder of those 2 ladies in Turkey, I notice that one of them was a Ms/Mrs Dinsmore. Just wondering if there is any connection...like.
The surname Dinsmore wouldn't be all that common I'd imagine.
Anyway the light of Heaven to them.

Belfast GAA player dies while hiking in Nicaragua
Dies after fatal fall while on walking tour
Thursday, August 25, 2011
A young Belfast GAA player has died in Nicaragua, following an accident on vacation.
Michael McLean (26). A trainee teacher, was fatally injured after a fall on Sunday in Central America.
His family paid tribute to "a much loved son, brother, uncle and friend to many".
Both his brother and sister have travelled to Nicaragua to bring his body home.
A recent graduate of Hope University in Liverpool, McLean had recently travelled to New York to meet with his younger brother Conor. The two siblings then travelled to Nicaragua for a walking holiday. The pair were taking a guided walking tour close to a Volcano when Michael fell and sustained a fatal head injury, he died soon after with his brother by his side.
Declan McClarnon from St Agnes' GAA Club told the Nolan Show on BBC Northern Ireland that Michael was "a lovely big gentleman".
"Nobody would have a bad word to say against him and he wouldn't have a bad word to say against them as well," he said.
"That was a testament to him.
May he too RIP.
