You're only as bad as your last game ....
The one thing I have learned over the years of watching championship football is that perfromances can be deceptive. It's all about doing what you need to do on the day. Over the years - and especially since the advent of the qualifiers - I have seen teams giving awesome performances in provincial finals or last 8 games or even semis and you'd think - 'Jaysus nothing will stop those lads this year.' Conversely I have seen teams play shocking stuff and wonder how they got that far and next thing they ratchet it up after and some of these teams have gone on to win Sam.
The game is at such a level now that (for the big teams - not including Dublin here before ye start! ) everything is geared for September - peaking mentally and physically with your game plan honed to the Nth degree. Kerry last year were awful til the QFs - Cork were awesome til the Final. In 2008 Tyrone were poor until the QFs. One of the other most memorable examples was Meath annihilating Kerry in 2001 and losing the Final.
So there may yet be a kick left in teams that are considered poor at the moment - Cork especially. Remember its never over until the rotund female exercises her vocal chords .....

there is usually always one upset in the Q/Fs JC, in 07 Meath upset the form book in 08 Wexford made it through and last year Meath done it again.
Who it will be this year is anyones guess but there will be a sting in the tail from someone
