The panel of pundits who write for the Irish News have come up with the following best 15 of the last 15 years

1 Mickey Mc Veigh (Down)
2 Sean Marty Lockhart (Derry)
3 Tony Scullion (Derry)
4 Kieran McKeever (Derry)
5 Philip Jordan (Tyrone)
6 Kieran Mc Geeney (Armagh)
7 Ryan Mc Menamin (Tyrone)
8 Paul McGrane (Armagh)
9 Anthony Tohill (Derry)
10 Brian Dooher) (Tyrone
11 Sean Cavanagh (Tyrone)
12 Oisin Mc Conville (Armagh)
13 Steven Mc Donnell (Armagh)
14 Peter Canavan (Tyrone)
15 Mickey Linden (Down)

4 from Derry
2 from Down
5 from Tyrone
4 from Armagh
only 4 counties represented out of a possible 9

Henry Downey, Greg Blaney, Stephen O' Neil,l Sean Mc Greevy, Conor Gormley, Diarmuid Marsden, Brian Mc Guigan Paddy Bradley, Ronan Clarke - to name but a few all worthy contenders and yet omitted from the fianl 15.

Opinions please......................................

Have other provinces done the same in the name of 'celebrating 125 years of the GAA'

I don't think they had scullion or McKeever in the original until there were complaints.

But what would Eamon O' Know about the GAA.

Interesting... three of the defenders and one midfielder are from Derry.

This just convinces me even more that our main problems are and always have been up front *sigh*

I find it strange that Derry have four - good players all though, conidering their lack of success nationally in the period. No Donegal (or Cavan or Monaghan either!!!) or Fermanagh or Antrim men.

Leinster and Munster have both done it, Leinster had a big night a few weeks ago. Munster did theirs a few months ago. Heard nothing about the west it may of been a "washout over there"

You'd have to have Martin McNamara in goal. Solid for club and county.

Shure we could all make cases for different players. I felt that Sligo's Paul Durkan and Johnny Davey were unlucky along with Séan O'Domhnaill from your own county. Hard to accommodate everybody I suppose....

No Roscommon player which is a bit of a surprise after their good spell between 98-02. Frankie Dolan maybe unlucky.

Frankie Dolan is overly fond of "high jinks" and solo performances to challenge for a spot I'm told...Doubtful if they won a Connacht in the past 15 years. I'm unable to recall anybody apart from Dolan who might have made the frame. Big Seamie O'Neill didn't warrant a berth for sure.
