Manager vs Manager
Just watched the Kildare game there and wasnt the most exciting match but I also noticed thet McGeeney is not afraid to make changes whereas Peter McDonnell is.
When I watched the Armagh game (which I missed 20 minutes of) Armagh were getting beaten in almost every aspect of the game but then 5 minutes into the second half Peter McDonnell started making changes. It is exactly the same as he done a few years ago when the u21's played Cork. Armagh were getting hammered something like 0-11 to 0-3 at half time and then he made the changes in the second half and Armagh lost by a single point.
Now I have to get this off my chest, I dont like McDonnell, he is too afraid to make changes and is forced into doing so but when he does make the changes he does a very good job. Except last year. Personally I want Geezer and Grimley back in Armagh managing.
You would expect an experienced manager like McDonnell to learn from his mistakes, but he dosent and thats annoying!

Re: Manager vs Manager
I heard from a fairly well informed source that Geezer was offered Armagh last year but wouldn't take it cos they were a team in transition and if they didnt do well it would reflect on him so when the Kildare job came up, he took it to get a bit of experience and then when Armagh are ready to challenge the big guns again he will come back in like Moses and lead them once more to the Promised Land.

Re: Manager vs Manager
You have heard correctly. I have two cousins in the Armagh panel - well one has left now. Grimley was also in contention for the job but have heard rumours as to why he wasnt given the job.
Re: Manager vs Manager
It makes a lot of sense, I mean why else would Geezer go near Kildare except to feather his own nest?

He lives near there, has a job near there too. But I expect him to return to Armagh in the next couple of years. He isnt doing too badly with Kildare just wish he was moulding the Armagh team now!

No Admin - he would have too much to lose. He can cut his teeth in Kildare and keep an eye on developments in the Orchard. There is no Big Joe going to appear and he knows it will be his some day. And like the player he was, he will be shrewd enough to pick that day!

Sooner ot later the Dubs will do as I advised LAST YEAR, and appoint Geezer to lead them to the promised land.

Geezer could do a lot with Dublin. He certainly would transform them into a force to be reckoned with. Unlike previous years
