getting the games abroad
i know im jumping the gun abit here, but if the dubs win on sunday, the semi finals on when i'm in japan, right smack on a island off the coast in the middle of the country side, so my chances of finding a irish bar are very very slim, especially one that would show tv3. is there such a thing as a radio, i dont know if i made this up, but that would pick up all the radio stations in the world. cant really internet it as i shull be sleepin on a beach that weekend. can ya get a world radio?? ive never really missed a champo match, and dont really plan to either

Re: getting the games abroad
Yes you can get a world radio, but it would be extremely hard to tune!
Anyway, you just leave your little problem with us Royals, Lino and we'll sort you out!!!!!

A lot GT posters seem to regularly be out of the country - Jayo and RMD were stateside a few weeks ago and now Lino plans to visit the Land of the Rising Sun!!! I think the furthest I've ever been was Kenmare to buy a greyhound and Liscannor for a funeral. I went on me holidays once, Bettystown there about ten years ago, an enjoyable day out I thought. Think I need to get out more!!! Do a lot of people go on holidays often?

Re: getting the games abroad
ah i usually go abroad once maybe twice a year, mostly visiting friends abroad. Japan's the furthest i've been. have to sort myself out with some valium for the flight! either that or im gonna start on the vodka, and that would just get messy.
so the radio thing is possible. happy days. knowing my luck now there be no radio coverage

Lino try the Saki (hot and cold) in the traditional drinking cups will blow the head of ya. Possibly the best county I ever visted (and wasn't for the world cup). Wait till you see the train system over there and then compasre it to anywhere in Europe (not just here).
Look out for your local Spar and remember to visit Denny's as well

Re: getting the games abroad
I like to go abroad a bit alright - and have been to USA (Boston, NY, Washington & Chicago), Italy (Rome twice (heaven), Sicily (to meet contacts ), Sorrento), Croatia (Zagreb), France (Paris - school tour; took 4 days by boat - we had to row in them days!), Spain (Lanzarote, Canaries (lads hol!) incl 4am drunken car wreck!, Madrid (lovely city) and Barca overnight, Portugal (2 or 3 times), Norway (Bergen!! for my sins but a good place), Denmark (Copenhagen - nice but dear), Finland (Lahti), Netherlands (a few times incl scout trip! Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Den Hague, Delft), Germany (Frankfurt) and Sweden (Stockholm - overnight). Belgium (Brussles), Austria (Vienna - no jay-walking!), Hungary (Budapest - nice but dear!), Luxembourg, Switzerland (Davos - super spot!) and Wales & England a few times .... I think that's about it!

No Boc - don't tell anyone but I am on a one-man crusade to get people to vote for Ireland in the Eurovision again! I take cheap Ryanair flights to all these places and go around with a placard around my neck that says 'Irlande - Douze points!'
I expect my project to really come to fruition next year when I remaster 'All Kinds of Everything' into a goth-tehcno-house number and get Johnny Logan on vocals. I ain't giving up on this yet ....................

Culture shock, lets just say out myth of being the friendliest place on earth will come to a ground braking halt.
Bullet trains are the mutts nuts talk about comfort at about 150mph.
Train times don't bother looking up ask people for help they'll nearly board youi onto the train.
Spars to beat the band are you flying into toyko international if so once you leave the airport you should see one, with it's green tree as well and SPAR in the red writing.
Rem also the got a disneyland over there top of the range a bit better than its european sister.
Wait till you see the roads you won't be giving out about any of ours again.
also go visit a japenesse tiolet not one of our western style ones.
if your travelling down the coutry try and take in Koboe, well worth it for all it temples and drums.
Really is a class place talk to you about it when you come back.

cheers for the info jim, if i get a bit homesick i'll just plonk my arse down in a spar! im flying into osaka, where im stayin for 1 day, then flying on to kochi. staying in kochi for a week where im going to these " olympic games" on a beach for students or something, i dont know , im going with my friend that lives there. camping there til sometime on sunday, so if all goes well i can crash in my mates fellas house and scab his internet and catch the game! thenb flyin back to osaka for a few days then maybe hiroshimo. if koboes as nice as ya say , may as well take a gander. wont be hittin disney land but theres a universal studio in osaka , i can meet bert and ernie and big bird at it!
but then again the dubs might lose on sunday, and all of this will become irrelevent
