Darren O Sullivan
I didn't stay for the presentation, but tell me this did Darren O Sullivan say something along the lines of 'I won't speak in irish now, I'll leave that for later in the year'

Re: Darren O Sullivan
he just said he wasnt the best at Irish but will we better for later in the year....
i wouldnt worry about it. He also said he was unreal nervous.
There was nothing in it
It still seems so ridiculous that he is the captain of the Kerry Senior Football Team juwt cos his club won the Kerry Championship. Its such a ridiculous tradition

Re: Darren O Sullivan
I see the way I was told it was in a somewhat ignorant manner he said it in as if to say we don't care about this match and we are definately going to win Sam and Munster this year.

No
Not atall
he was nervous and he stuttered through it
people will try to cause friction where there is none Niamh
was there any atmosphere there? Looked paltry on tele

Re: Darren O Sullivan
i totally agree Liam - what respect would he command in the Kerry dressing room. I think it is a daft way of selecting a captain. Does it mean he will have to picked in every game even if he isnt playing that well.
He looked like a 12 yr old who had been plucked out of the crowd to accept the cup. His expression said it all !!!!!!!!

Re: Darren O Sullivan
No atmosphere at it at all Liam, was in the Hogan Stand. I think this was due to the occassion more than the venue but.

Re: Darren O Sullivan
As much as i dont like Kerry, I have to say that all Darren o Sullivan was doing was a bit of banter-there was no disrespect to Derry at all. If I was up there, i'd probably say the same. He said something along the lines of:
'i wont speak irish now, i'll save it for later in the year'
Then he said something like:
'I hope this will be the first of two more speeches this year'.
There was no double-meanings about what he said at all.
Again as I say, I would love to dig up any crap about Kerry, but this isnt the crap i'm looking for!!!

Also, just so you all know I am not insinuating there was any disrespect from Kerry I just was unsure of what was said.

I had the same opinion. 'twas lifeless-i blame the venue-too big for my liking for an nfl final-but i think our national games should be played in our national stadium(the finals). Although, it would be better atmospheric wise is it was played in a neutral stadium. Theres arguments for both sides...

Re: Darren O Sullivan
do Dublin use the same method for selecting the Captain Jayo or is it just coincidental that this years captain is from Crokes?

As far as I know Boc the management choose the captain (eh... Collie Moran anyone! )so I reckon its coincidence.
