Darren McGee's comments
might believe him if he played for a real local club like St Marks/Round Towers/Ballinteer St Johns but for someone from Crokes to say that......we dont believe you Darren! What part of Kilmacud/Rathmines/Stillorgan did Brian Kavanagh, Liam McBarron and the like grow up in????

Re: Darren McGee's comments
This is a point to ponder alright.
In fairness to Magee, him and SOME of the others have been there since they were kids and it would probably mean a lot to him so I wouldn't criticise him for saying it. Maybe he knows his best chances of playing for Dublin are behind him.
On the flipside though, Brian Kavanagh came out a few weeks ago and is, in his own words, happy to trade in playing for his (native) county to try and win an All Ireland medal with a club he joined a year ago. He also said that The chances of winning an All-Ireland with Longford are slim. It's very hard to come about an All-Ireland medal and we're in a final now and we're going to go hell for leather to try to get it. That really annoyed me. Yes I know it's unlikely that Longford will win an All Ireland an time in the next God knows how many years but how demoralising is it for a small county knowing that arguably their most influential player doesn't rate them.
I guess what I'm saying is that I agree with Magee as he is a Crokes player through and through whereas Kavanagh, McBarron etc; are only blow ins so they are playing for success' sake rather than for the good of the game

What did he say?
But in fairness to the other lads they are all working in the area - teaching I think mostly.

What did who say, Jayo?
Magee said winning an All Ireland with Crokes would mean more to him than winning an All Ireland with Dublin.

Oh right! (Dougal moment!)
Ah sure he's entitled to his opinion. There are lads I know that would prefer Utd/Liverpool to win the Premiership than their county (not all Dubs either) to win an All Ireland! Now that's real sad BS!!

Re: Darren McGee's comments
I would rather win a club all ireland than a county one. my club did win the AI before but I was too young to remember it. When you think of all the people you grew up with, and celebrating a moment such as that with them on the team it would be incredible. Still wouldnt turn down sam though!
