.....................The future is Clare.
Ye were told this a couple of years ago in the minor hurling thread. These lads are to the manor born. Another Munster under 21s title tonight.

Re: The future is bright................
A lot of senior players involved again, Tony Kelly, Podge Collins, Aaron Cunningham, Colm Galvin, Peter Duggan, Shane O'Donnell, Seadna Morey, David McInerney all on the senior panel. I think all bar O'Donnell started the final last year - it was a very young u21 team last year? Who did they lose? O'Connor, Ryan, McGrath.
What happened in 2008 again? Referee reversed a decision and caused pandemonium amongst the Clare support.
Seems like a lifetime ago now, Clare have won four of the following five Munster championships and two All-Irelands.

Grammar. The difference between knowing your **** and knowing you're ****.
Great signature RMD, I like it. I'm giving a rural parlance to things here, hoping The Puke is watching.
On a Fair Day in Ballinamore in the 1950's, Boxtyeater was always amazed by the rolls of money the Nordie boyo's with the yellow boots had in their pockets.

10 of last years side started last night. Only Killian Duggan, Conor Ryan, Pat O'Connor, Conor McGrath &Cathal McInerney were overage from last years side and 4 of them are involved with the seniors.
9 of the team that started last night are underage next year with Ronan Taeffe, David McInerney, Paul Flanagan, Stephen O'Halloran, Podge Collins and Davy O'Halloran the ones who are in their last year of under 21. The likes of Gearoid Ryan, Darragh Corry, Jamie Shanahan, Conor Cleary and Bobby Duggan all to come into the side from the 2012 minor side. Duggan is still a minor but will play senior for Clare next year, I wouldn't swap him for any other minor hurler in the country at present.
We have been in 5 of the last 6 Munster under 21 finals, winning three, along with two (hopefully soon to be 3) A/I's at this level

Whatever happened to Caiman Morey, Cormac O'Donovan and Sean Collins? Promising hurlers, might have made it in a different era of Clare hurling.
U21 semi-final this weekend, winners likely to be strong favourites for the final though this looks a good Wexford team too.

Re: The future is bright................
Sean Collins is still on the senior panel but well down the pecking order, Morey had a lovely set of hands on him but simply didn't have the mobility for I/C hurling, or size to make up for the lack of mobility. Cormac never received a call up from Davy which I always found strange especially when he wanted to play a possession/running game which he would have been tailor made for.Loyal2TheRoyal wrote:Whatever happened to Caiman Morey, Cormac O'Donovan and Sean Collins? Re: The future is bright................
The All-Ireland u21 Hurling championship' Golden Jubilee will have Ulster representation for the very first time.
Remarkable result - Antrim manager appeared the most shocked.
This must be a serious case of Wexford taking their eye off the ball. They were being quoted at 1/80 this morning.
Nevertheless they finished the stronger and almost stole it at the end. Nobody bar Wexford supporters will have complained that Antrim hung on though.

Re: The future is bright................
That wexford team got what they deserved unfortunately only played for 10 mins (at most) Most Wexicans appauled the Antrim team of the fiel tonight and acknowledged that the better team won.
Bit saddened that we didn't make it but seriously doubt we would do any better against clare than antrim will do.
Massive rumour going around that 3 antrim players opted to play club football rather than play tonight? could of been worse.
Hat off t oKevin Ryan and co we are now offically out of all senior competitions now only the ladies are left in the Junior championship (football- and a Wexford club are the Leinster Senior Club champions) and they look to be struggling to get key players for next weekend

Great to have you back Jim, please make it more regular! Hard luck to the u21s, 1/80 on by the bookies to win too! Great for Antrim & Ulster hurling though, Antrim winning in spite of their county board!

Re: The future is bright................
The Antrim manager was on TG4 afterwards Jim and in terms of numbers at training, he's quoting figures like 4, 7 and 8. And this was weeks ago......not months ago or last Winter. Said their preparation was how not to prepare for an All-Ireland semi-final. Might be the result that Antrim hurling needs - but might also be an aberration.
Wexford must have been complacent. Not that many of their players tonight featured for the seniors earlier in the year - Jack Guiney the only obvious one - might have been a weak Leinster championship. Still a year of near misses for Wexford hurling - took Dublin to a replay and Clare to extra-time, missed out on an All-Ireland Final in the shock of the year.
