A more salient question reference Connolly is if he ranks amongst top six current Dublin forwards
Charlie Redmond (Dublin)
Dessie Dolan (Westmeath)
Stephen Bray (Meath)

All well and good pointing out who should have been nominated, but just who would they have displaced on the team if anyone?

Re: Notable omissions from list of nominees
You've posted a fair enough list, Loyal, and the players that you've mention would range from fairly good to excellent. Some of those named were strongly considered (e.g. Nallen, Kelly, Cassidy), others lightly considered (e.g. O'Hara, Christie) and others weren't really on my radar (e.g. Bray, Connolly, Murphy).
I could also add to your list people like David Beggy, Aidan O'Mahony, Mickey McVeigh, Gary Connaughtan, Gabriel Irwin, Kevin Cahill, Martin Gavigan, Barry McGowan, Tony Davis, Conor Deegan, Ronan Clarke, John McEntee and half a dozen midfielders. No doubt I've still missed several.
However, the question that you have to ask is this: 'If I added x to the list of nominees, who would he replace?'. I'm pretty comfortable that I've nominated the best 4-5 in each position. After that, you could certainly make a case for a few of the above being better than a few of the nominees, but you could also make the case that the nominees were all very deserving. Overall, in terms of the really big names, I'd like to think that there weren't any howlers made with someone being incorrectly left off the original list of nominees.

On talent alone, he would have been on my team, and I'm serious about that! But he only has 1 AI and no all stars despite having played in a great side, so biased as I could be towards my own clubman, I couldn't justifiably find a place for him on the list.
