Team Building Programme
I am carrying out field research into the idea of incorporating Team Building Activities into GAA clubs.
Our objective is to deliver a first class service to you on the assumption that you wish to create a positive attitude and great team morale for your club players and associates.
This Team Building Programme would involve trust exercises and working together as a team to reach an end goal which would then carry onto the team's dynamic on and off the pitch!
As GAA sport is based on team work, these kind of activities would prove beneficial to your team showing that there is no I in team and with everyone's co-operation, all goals can be achieved and are well within reach.
The Team Building Activities would consist of fun, energetic and cognitive activities emphasizing team work and the team's main objective being everyone's end goal. Activities such as paint balling, rallying, swimming, surfing, rock climbing and much more, are designed to show how all members of a team are invaluable and proactive teams are positive teams!
These type of activities can be carried out pre season to give the team motivation and start the team off on an equal mindset or post season as a warm down and enjoyable day to show team dedication and team effort awareness.
Thank you for your time and any feedback on this would be much appreciated.
Yours Sincerely
Ciara & Priscilla

Manys a good team was built on the basis of wet nights and downing pints.

There's no need for that kind of smart riposte RMD, given your lofty position here...
Ciara, could I forward you the postal address of the humble Fenagh club in lovely Leitrim if I may. There are no more honest lads, granted struggling at Intermediate, but we have a fine(ish) crop of young lads with potential. Our problem is with the more senior players, (those between 35/45) who think things should be done in "the old ways"
Pertaining to your "activities" objectives, we, along with many other GAA clubs, formed a Golf Society in the early Tiger days.
Was the local course, Ballinamore, good enough for these sons of the soil, more used to turf sleáns than golf clubs...No Sir...
Longford, Carrick, Roscommon.....No Sir.. The fooking Slieve Russell was the scene of the only outing. A memorable day, highlighted between Gunner Scollan breaking a window in the Hotel (no mean feat, given that it's practically un-reachable from the course) and The Dauber's fall into a 10' bunker as he played his 14th. to the green on 7.......The entire outing concluded on the 13th. (Row in Bunker)..
We're competitive, aggressive and passionate, but lacking focus...I know it looks grim, but they'll give you everything.....

They're not a charitable organisation Boxty.
I reckon a day in the bog builds great camaraderie as well.

I'm not quite sure as to whether you're having a mild sneer at Dan, or re-imagining your halycon days in the "Free Market Economy".
I'm saddened to my core, for a man of your stature, that you should besmirch the talents of a golf apprentice like Dan (More a turf slean man) than a golfer, by demeaning his few odd slelps in Balllyconnell....
For shame...

At about 7pm when the wind dies and the midges come out you'll find out your weak link.

And also the strong link - The man that is in possession of Midge deterrent - namely a few score of B&H

OK guy's thanks for your comments!
This is simply an idea I am looking into...the GAA is not all about manly men downing pints! I am just looking to see if anybody out there that is involved in a club/team thinks this idea would be beneficial or used within the GAA if given a chance...?!
Pre-season, post-season and mid-season are great times to pull a team together, the proof is in the results and medals the teams bring home!

Re: Team Building Programme
surely successful teams are managing without this craic!!!!! Does Kevin Madden (ex Antrim) not run a similair initiative based on team building etc?
Biggest issue you have is as your unlikely to be offering this service free of charge most clubs cannt afford to avail of the service

There was an antrim group used to run weekends. They used Downings as one of the venues. Though these had a bit more of a gaa specific slant than the poster mentions above.
Some on pitch Training - a challenge match - maybe an attempt at surfing/ cannoeing followed by a lock of pints.

Best crack was when old scores and cabin fever sets in on the saturday night. Usually a good row and a few black eyes to finish off the weekend

Bald Eagle (pictured) would cut a fine dash before the porter charge.....
