Re: RTE team of the year
Didn't think they would give Donegal three so had ruled CASS out - In reality don't think he was much better than Thompson or mcGlynn but a big points a big point.
Had ruled Marc O Sé out by virtue of Mayo game - can't say I'd do anything different in hindsight - though seems that Fitzisimmons rather than O sullivan is the players pick.
Not often the All Ireland winners don't get a midfield slot - thats why I went with Bastick - and there was no way that they were going to bring Johnny doyle on the panel and insult him two years in a row. - I'd go Bastick and Doyle for All stars.
five from six in the forwards - Flynn versus Shine - I went for the Wildcard - One man band - bit like Browne or Forde in their day - I'd still back him for an all star.
So for the all stars - I'd stand by my pick but would drop Cian O' Sullivan for Fitzsimmons

Re: RTE team of the year
I was disappointed Kevin Reilly didn't get a mention. I know Meath didn't get very far but he really announced himself as the dominant FB in the country with some of his displays.
Omar - I'd definitely have McAuley over Bastick. The former had a terrific final and was my MOTM.
I also don't see the merit in giving Kerry a token selection in the backs. Neither Marc O'Se or Tom O'Sullivan were any use all year, and it's a bit of an insult to guys like Kevin Reilly, Mick Foley, Hugh McGrillen and Michael Fitzsimons that O'Se was picked ahead of them.
I also disagree entirely with Johnno's Bulls selection of Ger Brennan, who in the 45th yesterday should have been sent off and in the 71st, did everything in his power to hand Kerry a chance at the All-Ireland by putting his hand in Donaghy's face. The three best half-backs all year were Bolton, Lacey and Cassidy, the only other player I would entertain here is Kevin Nolan. Brennan has probably been the weak link for the Dubs all season?
Also I couldn't leave out either Paul Flynn or Bryan Cullen, even in favour of Darren O'Sullivan. Both had phenomenal years.

Brennan was a token gesture from me really. Tom O'Sullivan was very good yesterday and for all the un-warranted criticism he always seeme to perform on the big day.

Re: RTE team of the year
I would hope that Bryan Sheahan gets an All Star, much maligned footballer sho many seemed to think was only there to kick frees. Has went into a problem position for them and many would have felt that he would struggle there but he has done a fine job along with young Maher. As good a striker of a ball as there is in the game today and a pleasure to watch, kicked a lovely point off his weaker foot in the second half yesterday after a loevly little dummy and feint

I'd agree with Loyal here, those 3 have been the pick of half-backs all year... Brennan was lucky again yestwerday to escape greater censure although I felt the yellow card offence was (while unsightly) a little accidental, he just couldn't adjust his impetus...
