Bogue was asked to leave before a question was ever asked. Prob inevitable then that the first question to be asked following McGuinness' intervention was about Cassidy.
McGuinness has every right to refuse to answer a question on this (or any) matter and has every right to refuse to answer a question from any particular journalist. What he does not have is the right to have a working journalist precluded from attending the post match interview and should not have been allowed to do so.

Happy with that.
Couldn,t believe the start.
1. Donegal played long ball against cork for first 30 mins to "save petrol"
2. Mayo full back line gave up 7 easy frees to Brogan
3. Full back line is shortest of any of the four semi finalists
4. Murphy was 100 pc fit for first time in 15 months
My eight year old knew Murphy would start inside and Donegal would play diagonal ball, but for some bizarre reason horan thought different.
Thought the 2 mcgees were outstanding they could have given a five yard headstart and still been first to the ball.
I thought mayo showed great heart, and sympathy to all fans for their heartbreak - with one exception on the drive to dublin on saturday had pleasure of listening to newstalk and a basketball players view that mayo had better footballers, more tradition and that donegal had peaked, and that hype would get to them etc. He forgot to mention that the only time he met donegal in Croker he got toasted by a full back 9 inches smaller rhan him.

One other point is im delighted for Murphy.and a Mom performance
He missed the peno in u-21 game against dublin and missed three scoreable frees into hill 16 in semi last year.
My biggest concern was that this would be a tight game and would come down to freetakers and i was nervous that mm might come off the worse of a duel with O connor.
Ye of little faith

Comhgairdeas Dun na nGall. The better team on the day prevailed, more of their players played to their peak or near it. Contrast Mayo for whom Keane had a nightmare that gave Donegal the head start. Others to flop for them were Moran and the entire forward line failed to ignite. Granted they kicked some fairish points but a few of these were Hail Marys too.
Horan goofed on the line as well. The Keane positioning was a shocker but Gibbons and Feeney added verve and edge to their attack when introduced and Doherty should have been hooked after 20 mins.
Donegal had some top drawer displays, the McGees, McGlynn, both midfielders, McHugh, McFadden and Murphy can all be pleased with their contributions. Jim McGuinness may or may not be pleased with his after match "altercation". He may be attempting to emulate Cody in becoming an invincible figure but my question is "What if the assembled journalists had stuck to their NUJ guns and called him on it"...
Anyway, it's all water under the bridge now I guess. "Jimmys winning matches"....Enjoy it lads and well done.

Agree with OMAR and Boxty re the McGee brothers they have been immense all year and yesterday was no different.
After the game I was asked who I would give MOTM to and I said Neil McGee, but as usually happens the forward always get the nod when it comes to these decisions

Think this was " Buster" stocky shoulders and a mouthstache - note all Downings people have a nickname as they are all Mcbride, mclafferty, boyce or Gallagher

was chatting to a Donegal man whilst on a few days away in Downings, this was before their quarter final. He was a mad fan followed them everywhere (or at least he convinced me he did)
You have me curious there BOC A little bit more info there (which Pub/What age/first name/ and I would be able to confirm the Bona Fides or otherwise !!
OMAR it was Downings Bay Hotel, he was working one night as the Night Porter, nice man he was too. Dont remember the name (not sure if he even told me his name) short stocky lad with grey hair and a moustache in his mid 40s i'd say.
Only other thing i can tell you about him is he was 3 daughters and used to work at shuttering

i didnt get his name so it could well be, he worked for McCann brothers who are based in Tyrone thats as much as i know apart from the daughters, i'd recognise him again though if i seen him, he was big buddies with one of the backroom guys Maxy Curran i think was the name he mentioned. A very down to earth guy who is a few grand richer today if his story about the bet was true

I'm a very proud Donegal man. What a few days. Just back from the homecoming in Donegal town. It was pouring out of the heavens for the whole evening but that didn't stop 15k odd people showing up. Jim has mentioned many times that he feels there is a bond between the team and the players and that was so evident tonight. The pride and the joy that I have experienced and seen other Donegal people experience since yesterday afternoon is almost overwhelming. I wish I had the wordcraft of Par or TC or Boxty to describe what it was like and what it means to me but all I can say is that it's a really special time to be from Donegal and by god we're going to enjoy this.

It's the one thing that you don't really get as a Dub!
You don't get the lads coming back across the border or anything like that. Maybe we should send them off to Leitrim or somewhere else remote after winning a final and then welcome them back on the Monday night!

Or maybe send them all back down to their respective parents counties. All meet in Athlone and then head for Dublin on Monday.
Anyway I really enjoyed the match. The athmosphere was brillant and the difference really was the class up front of Donegal.
Mayo should take something from the games as in fairness that kept battling when they would have folded in previous years. Well done Donegal and congrats to RMD and Omar. I enjoyed yesterday in Cassidys but it sure will be nothing to the celebrations in Tir Conaill over the next few weeksMonths?) (Years?)

Congratulations to Donegal, nobody can say that they didn't deserve to win this year. I still think they will win it or at least make the final next year as they are head and shoulders above any other team. Like many have said the hunger may not be as strong next year, but I think there will be enough.

Congratulations to Donegal on their All Ireland title win, This is one of the most organised teams i have ever had the pleasure to watch, If they can maintain this level of comittment over the next number of years Sam will be back in Pettigo on a more regular basis. Well Done!

a gentle reminder that big Jim has had his tough times too. Wasnt aware that he had lost a brother in 1998 in a car accident, Jim was in the same car at the time.

Brolly had an article on Mayo this Sunday in the rag he writes for - unfortunately (or maybe fortunately) its not on-line. Basically he says that Mayo should be sent on a holiday when they win an All-Ireland semi and whoever they beat should be in the Final. While I know he's a WUM and writes stuff to stir sh1t this is an especially poor and disrespectful article.
For a guy from a county with one Sam (in their only appearance) and no Ulster since 1998 but many hammerings and a litany of under-performances in that time, Brolly has some neck.

Yes it would seem as if he is pushing the boat a little here. If the majority of commentators were asked to put the Mayo defeat down to two factors
1) It would be that they didn't properly cover the Murphy playing inside scenario either through a different marker or a sweeper. Other than that Mayo held there own.
2) The top players ie Murphy, McFadden, McGee, Lacey held their nerve in the key pressure points
better than Mayos key players
Other than that Mayo held their own and shaded it for long passages of the game
Did Donegal have another gear if needed - Nobody Knows. And that would be consistent with what Brolly said on RTE. If he is going to depart from that he is being inconsistent.
If that was his line of argument from the outset whilst many would disagree he would be entitled to his opinion but the fact that he has decided to go a different route when nobody can hold him to account is just being as you say a WUM and a cowardly one at that. At a more macro level it would question his objectivity which does not matter for the rag in question but is an issue if he is to be paid by TV licence fees with a hell of a lot more coming from Mayo and none from Derry.
