The next 16 days
The next 16 days will define the football championship. Momentum and confidence are important factors at this stage of the season - at the end of it all, only 4 teams will remain.
I predict Meath, Donegal, Kildare and Cork to be still standing after the August Bank Holiday weekend.

Quarter final draw tonight is the most meaningful draw in the championship
The provincials in connacht and munster only dictate when the top two meet.
In Ulster/leinster might mean the difference between meeting your main rival or top two rivals or and you still have to win the thing. Even if not you have a second chance.
Rarely will the qualifiers throw up a heavyweight clash in the early rounds (kerry v tyrone being an exception) but at quarter final stage we get back door teams with momentum.
We get provioncial champions that may have slumbered, and we do end up with potential draws that have huge variations in odds.
Quarter final clashes even in the past 5 years where Dublin in my view have probably had the harsher side of luck. Cork caught sleeping against mayo. Kerry caught sleeping against Down, Dublin caught sleeping against Kerry.
Froma donegal perspective huge Difference in drawing Kerry or Laois at this stage.
I'm sure Mayo in particular would prefer to avoid Kerry. Andi don't think any of mayo,Dublin or Cork would be disapointed at drawing Down
Prediction
Donegal v kildare
Mayo v kerry
Dublin v Down
Cork v Laois
Semis
D
Kerry,dublin,donegal,Cork

As a useless point of trivia since the introduction of the qualifiers Donegal have played in 5 quarter finals and two semi finals, prior to 2001 Donegal have played in 5 Ai semi finals and one AI final and have on all occasions have avoided Kerry.
i
In fact of the teams that have won sam the only teams that Donegal have not met in SFC. Are wexford,Louth and limerick.
Its been a bizzare twist of odds that they have never met the most predominant team in their travels.
