Re: Lar Corbett retired
A shock I must say, had a great year last year apart from the All Ireland. He has cited work and business commitments as his reason. A lot of stars after retiring lately, Corbett, Brennan, Benny Dune, PJ Ryan. Big blow for Tipp.

Would have thought he wouldn't like to bow out with last year's All Ireland Final as his swansong ....

Re: Lar Corbett retired
John Mullane has opted out of the Waterford hurling panel for "an indefinate period"
There were rumours going around before Ryan was appointed that Mullane and Michael Ryan didn't see eye to eye when Ryan was over De La Salle a couple of years ago. That would be a huge blow to Waterford if he opted out for the year and would have Ryan on the back foot straight away

if Dunne had already left the panel why did Corbett feel the need to leave as well, surely if your rival is of the scene then there is every reason to stay!!!!!!
More to this than a row with Dunne i think......................

Re: Lar Corbett retired
Very surprised at this.
We don't know the exact situation and he obviously has his reasons but it'll be a big blow to Tipp if he sticks to his decision. He should have had at least another 3-5 good years in him.
But the demands being placed on county players now are making it increasingly difficult for lads to commit to it, especially as they get a bit older and maybe have more reposnsibilities in terms of work/marriage/mortgage/kids and all the rest of it. A shame to see one of the top forwards in the game gone at such a relatively young age, but top level GAA is increasingly becoming a game for lads in their early to mid 20s.

Reports that Bonnar Maher suffered a serious knee injury in Tipp's win over Cork today. That would be a significant loss for Tipp if true
