Round 4 Qualifer - Derry vs Kildare
Going to be hard for Derry to bounce back after their Ulster Final defeat. A team like them who've shown a mental fragility in the past - well it's going to take a lot of hard work from the lads in charge.
Meath had Kildare on the ropes for a while but their class told in the end. Worries for them: Johnny Doyle looked injured in midfield, also without Earley and Lynch here, and the FF line lacks any real quality, though the young Fionn Dowling looks promising.
I'd like to see Derry upset the odds but just can't see them turning it around in such a short period especially against a team with the ambitions of Kildare.

Re: Round 4 Qualifer - Derry vs Kildare
The 6 day turn around for Derry will be tough. It's hard enough to pick yourself up after losing a final, never mind having to do it over such a short space of time.
I think Kildare might have the better players, but they are not worldbeaters by any stretch. They just got over a poor Meath team and failed to beat a 14 man Dublin team. Emmet Bolton is a very good player, but he would not have scored 1-1 against us if he had been marked by a more capable player. Jonny Doyle was struggling at mid field so this may be an area where Derry could dominate.
The wide open pitch will suit Kildare though.

Kildare at a canter. Derry showed nothing on Sunday to suggest they can win this..

Kildare easily here. Very little quality but huge durability. Derry had two big losses in less than a week - Eoin B and the Ulster Final. They will not recover from them.

Is there going to be any place to watch this game? Is it being streamed live anywhere?

Derry had no answers for Donegal and Kildare play a similair style to Donegal so it can only be a win for Kildare here

Don't know Boc - seems odd. Two big games like Armagh -vs- Tyrone and Kildare -vs- Derry and no TV coverage?
Also I would not say Kildare play like Donegal. Certainly not as many players in their own half anyway.

0-6 to 0-6. Derry had a goal disallowed - wrongly in the opinion of Bernard Flynn. Not the first time Syl Doyle has disallowed a goal this year for Kildare's benefit.
And now, turn down radio and switch to BBC to watch the King George.

Wow! Sad end to the year for Derry after the promise of the Armagh game. I think they've been dealt a bad hand this year. Hopefully, they keep at it and can come back better next year. Good footballing county is Derry.
Finally here we go again. The first of the provincial finalists come crashing down. Cork up next.

Not quite Loyal !! Kildare must've had the shooting boots on - hitting 19 points ... but they will not win Sam.

They will take a fair bit of stopping. I think they will be happy if they can avoid Dublin in the Quarters. As for shooting boots, all forwards scored I believe?

Also today marks the end of my support for Derry. Never really thought anything of them until a year or two ago.
And since I've become a supporter, they've done nothing but disappoint - and dent my pocket. No point supporting them anymore.
As for the nine teams left, I hope to see Tyrone go as far as possible.

Scorers:
Kildare: John Doyle 0-06 (0-06f), James Kavanagh 0-04, Robert Kelly, Tomás O'Connor 0-02 each, Hugh McGrillen, Eamonn Callaghan, Eoghan O'Flaherty, Padraig O'Neill, Ronan Sweeney 0-01 each
Don't think Padraig O'Neill scored L? I also thought J Kavanagh was not due to start but seems he did. Class act and seems to be going well this year. He is the best forward Kildare have ..... and Geezer drops him

Kavanagh is one of those Francesco Totti type players. Mesmerising on his day but can very easily let a game go by without laying a finger on the ball. Appeared to me to save his better days for Meath. Thought I remember the RTE commentary saying that O'Neill got a point in the second half - maybe I'm wrong. Eammon Callaghan is an exceptional forward too.
