Roscommon v Mayo
Just had open a thread on the Connacht Final as nobody seems to care. Ah well Mayo by three points, Enda to get a roasting from the locals (although he may deny being there) and a very good match.

C'mon the Rossies!! Can't understand why anyone is tipping Mayo - they are sh1te. Roscommon have a handy team and are improving - Senan Kilbride taking a lot of weight off Shine. Just cos they are Roscommon they are dismissed - they are a good team and are stronger this year!

Whew. Thanks Jayo as I was wondering if the match had been cancelled or something. Well I see Enda cant face the Hyde and has excused himself. Still think Mayo will have too much for the Rossies.

Is there any way they can both lose?
I hope Roscommon wins.. The lesser of two evils.

Re: Roscommon v Mayo
Much as it goes against the grain to say it, but Roscommon are tremendous value here at 13/8....
Mayo, while a Div 1 team, are but a shadow of former teams and the Sheepstealers, in the Hyde, will fear no one.
Claffey in goals is solid (no Cake Curran ) and they have tidy corner backs in McDermott (much under-rated) and Ormsby. Domican's natural position is at 6......
Mannion and Finneran are primary ball winners who can chip in the odd score, but their potency is up front...
Higgins and Cregg, clubmen, are grafters and the modus operandi is to get it forward to the inside line. Kilbride is old style, win it, make room and knock it over, Shine is big enough to win and convert his own ball and Conor Devaney has a BMW engine on him......Roscommon will win this (Sighs)...
But it's a great oul' day in the Hyde, the bullsh1t and pints in Tom Foxe's (the Hospital TD) before the match...the Connacht Final and with the exception of 1994** nothing to show for the Spring and early Summer of braggadacio....
** Herself found a comatosed Boxty asleep in the hayshed around the 8pm. mark on the Tuesday.....I'll always keep dogs around the place...

I am with Boxty here. Mayo are a team living off the reputation of Ciaran McDonald's (and company) efforts five years ago. Football there is not much better than football in Galway. Miracle that both sides have survived Division 1 for so long.
Ultimately Connacht football is in a dark place. Roscommon are the province's flag bearers but a 0/10 record in games outside the province highlight how bad Connacht football really is.

Point taken...But it should be borne in mind that last year against Cork, Roscommon lead by a point 8/10 mins into the 2nd.half, without the services/outlet of Senan Kilbride at full forward. That cost them an outlet for the primary possession they were gaining. Cork were on the rack then but their physicality took them home, as Roscommon's challenge floundered.
Fergal O'Donnell has been with these lads since they were but green and game gorsóóns. They'll not lack for passion nor commitment on Sunday and the Minor success will stand to them. I might have napped Shine for MOTM in the comp but expect a challenge from Cathal Cregg...

Conditions ruined the game. But well done Mayo. Happy night in RMD house but don't see Cork or Kerry losing any sleep over today's fare. All 4 teams way today behind those two - and Dublin and Kildare too tbh .....

Re: Roscommon v Mayo
The conditions were terrible for both teams yesterday but the poor decision making at times was nothing short of ridiculous, If some of the passes, shooting, ball retention and general play were replicated in a club game you'd be tearing your hair out. I don't think the winners of the Tyrone V Armagh qualifier will lose too much sleep over Roscommon and Mayo are clearly the weakest provincial winners to book their quarter final place.
