Meath vs Louth
Battle of the Boyne Round II.
Meath a squad decimated by injuries, suspensions and retirements up against Louth, a side decimated by emigration and loss of form.
David Bray - long term absentee
Eoin Harrington and Bryan Menton - out
Stephen Bray and Graham Geraghty - doubtful
Brian Farrell - suspended
Cormac McGuinness - retired
Louth could make up for the Leinster title they never won. Lest us forget, contests between these two are always close.
In 1998, it took a Tommy Dowd inspired Meath and a Graham Geraghty wide given as a point to separate the teams. Meath won by the minimum.
In 2002, the sides only ever qualifer meeting, Louth, and in particular JP Rooney, opened Meath up in the first half. But a goal from Richie Kealy in injury time got Meath to within a point. Then Geraghty arrived on the scene with six minutes of injury time played and found the net when a point was scarcely on. Louth heartbroken but Meath won 3-08 to 2-09.
2010, and for the third time in 12 years, Louth were on the wrong end of a costly refereeing decision in this fixture. Joe Sheridan carried the ball over the line.
Louth are due some luck against Meath. And so far, Meath have been beset with bad luck. History could be about to correct itself for those three games that Louth lost. They should never have lost any of them.

A post that should be set as a template on the Forum..Personally, I like the presentation, mind you an apostrophe after the "lets" issue would have made epic..

Re: Meath vs Louth
Hard game to analyse. From a Meath point of view, it's a good win but Louth were shocking.
The game bears some striking resemblances to the Dublin one last year - the goals act as a facade for what was an ordinary performance.
Cian Ward has always had a touch of class. He might not always bring his A-game but he is infinitely more classy than Joe Sheridan and some of the other Meath forwards.
I suspect if we get a hard draw tomorrow, we could get brought down to earth rather quickly. Of course, confidence will grow after today, and that is important if we're looking at the positives.
It's also surprising that there aren't more comments left throughout the game. Disappointing for the website in my opinion as users are inevitably going to go elsewhere to make their comments.
