Over the last 20 years ... Mayo. History is too long a timeframe.

Maybe Mayo as well but the Derry team of recent vintages would also give them a run for their money.

In fairness Derry have won Sam and 5 NFLs since 1992 - thats 6 National titles - not a lot of counties can boast that kind of success. Get over her!

They are a team of little mental standing. Some shambolic championship performances over the last few seasons but like Mayo, have competed on a level with the best in the Spring time.

Re: Mayo or Derry?
When I was very young Derry were emerging onto the GAA scene. The first inter county game I saw was Derry beating Down in a Lagan Cup final, down being reigning all Ireland champs. They then won minor and Hogan cup, and U21.
From then I always had Derry as a "big" threat to all. Down and Cavan were the teams, and Derry was the only other county Antrim had to fear in Ulster.
Being young was great. However, Derry, good side in the 1970s, and a very good side in the 1990s, and even had talented players in the 1980s as well.
In the 90s every southern team was terrified of them due to all those league wins.I can remember loads of people expecting Cavan to destroy Kerry in 97 simply on the basis "they beat Derry". With a back door I think that Derry team would have won at least three all Irelands, unles internal politics got them.
So Derry to me have been the under achievers, as they have always "looked" to have a good team throughout my time watching games.

It was indeed, spot on. Brendan Mulholland turned up, you can't get him to stop. Google him and see.
