No World Cup for England
Well Ingerland have lost out in their World Cup bid for 2018 despite being red-hot favourites! They came third in a shortlist of two - as Rashers once famously said. So much for Becks and Prince Charming - the ambassadors that could not bring home the pigmeat! Ah at least there is the Royal Wedding!
Losing 2018 to the Russkies was bad enough - but then seeing 2022 go to the football hotbed that is Qatar must be simply puke inducing! No doubt Sepp and the lads were given, ahem, great undertakings in granting these bids their three wishes. Coincidentally, Qatar is rated as the richest country in the world.
It may be good for Ireland though. We don't qualify for near ones like Germany and France - preferring to send our fans to USA and Asia! It is sad for England though. The home of football and yet they will not have hosted the game they invented for at least 60 years - and I wouldn't be betting on football coming home in 2026 either! And sure nobody remembers England hosting (and winning) it in 1966. You never hear a word about it ........
Well done to the BBC's Panorama for giving a last minute leg up to the bid. If they think Sir Alex not talking to them was bad they may find it a picnic when the tabloids start pointing the finger tomorrow!

Re: No World Cup for England
Sad to see a future King, the Prime Minister and a budding cultural attache prostrating themselves before a body somewhat more corrupt than the Dail.
One of the stipulations a country must agree to is that a FIFA official can arrive with a suitcase full of money in any currency which he can then proceed to launder. So whoever robbed the Northern Bank and has the 26.5 million needs to get elected to FIFA soon.
You couldn't make it up. Qatar were red hot favourites as they can buy the entire voting panel, and Russia were favourite until the last minute when it was suspected that Qatar had done a deal with Spain.
England god bless their cotton socks, are complete amateurs in this game, and short of the necessary cash.
They should have done the decent thing and withdrawn as FIFA are seriously corrupt.

Alcohol only mildly tolerated in Qatar and bought with permit. No public drinking at all and being drunk will get you a few lashes! Women may find their dress sense severely curtailed. Should be good craic if we qualify ......

Re: No World Cup for England
Should be easy enough to work this out
However is going to win has dispatched a bag man
In case anything goes wrong the Don stays at home to avoid implication
He sits back has a vodka/Brandy/Herbal Tea/Strong coffee and waits for the phonecall
England clearly haven't worked out this tactic and send over Prince, Becks, Seb Coe, Mr. Blobby or whatever other national icon they can get their hands on -
Im sure Boxty is already compiling Package deals
I forecast that a bit like a Dublin West TD - there will be a big demand for "interpretors"

Aye ya get a bit sick of the goings-on with that Bladder fella - the most cunning and devious of them all. The giants of the game - ourselves, San Marino, Leichtenstein, Cook Islands, Andorra and the rest should form a breakway association - like they do in boxing every other week. We could call it FATSO (Football Associations To Share Opulence) .........

Dear Sett
Please select 2 from the following 3
1. Russian bid sponsored by "Lukoil and Gazprom"
2. Quatar bid sponsored by Quatar Soverign wealth fund which has reserves of a trillion dollars worth of oil and even more gas
3. Ireland sponsored by "Anglo Irish bank and NAMA"
