On page 19 of the Irish Times today there are 4 pictures of Robbie Keane in differeny kits - Wolves, Inter, Liverpool and Celtic. The four shirt sponsors across the line read Goodyear, Pirelli, Carlsberg and Carling!!!

all that money spent by the club
all that money spent by the club
all that money spent by the club
I was trying to analyse this. The Club spent money so blame Mancini? Any money Mancini spent has been a great success. He has also identified those who are only interested in money and not the club, weeded them out, and waving goodbye to them. He did not buy them.
The club has spent slightly less than say Aston Villa but are currently doing slightly better. Much of that is down to Mancini, who should win manager of the year, considering he has a joke club., fighting and stabbing each other every day, drinking and breaking curfews, only there for the money, no interest, no team spirit, and in 22 games he has them as possible champions, and looking good as being one of the four to qualify?
Beginning to think he is better than Stein.

Incorrect. City have spent far more on transfers than anybody else in the history of the Premier League. Not to mention wage costs.
Manager of the year?! Imagine what Holloway would do with 117 Million.

Re: The Premier League
Ian Holloway? Did he not used to manage the richest club in the world and done nowt? Fawning to the press with a "let's have a work ethic" rhetoric does not impress me.
Neil Warnock at least got results with the richest club in the world.
Mancini spent 117, now 145 million. Just 100 million below Martin O'Neill at Villa.
So 245 buys 6th, debt of 850 million gets you second if we use United as a yardstick, yes, beginning to think Mancini could be another .....Clough.
Neil Warnock at least got results with the richest club in the world.

O'Neill didn't even spend half of that figure that you pulled from thin air in his time at Villa.
City have spent over 400 Million in 5 years and STILL trail United.
You're right Pat, only City.

I don't drink.
You know, when it comes to managers, hasn't been too many good ones.
The sainted Roy Keane only really had two managers in his entire career and the one at Old Trafford comes second(last) in Roy's choice of best manager he played under.
Still, what would Roy know. Mind you, if he stands as president...........walk in.

On the first point, Villa spent exactly 246 million.
On the second point, City spent some 400 million, but most of it goes to the fortunate people of Manchester under the regime of the benevolent Sheik Mansdour.
Including 3.5 million for a ground for FC United of Manchester at......Newton Heath.
Isn't that lovely.
Mind you they have spent 260 million on players now, but most of those were useless. A plot by mark Hughes to slow progress.

VILLA have, but O'Neill has not, so your statement that Mancini spent 100 Million less than O'Neill at Villa is incorrect.
Villa have spent the figure you quoted since the inception of the Premier League and City have spent over 500 Million on transfers alone in the same period. Now if 246 million gets you 6th from 20.. Double that should surely get you first ahead of a United team that pales in comparison to the teams they have had in the past?? And the Eurodisney Cup should be a given...
Time will tell.

There was contact but Berbatov could and should have stayed on his feet. No doubt about the red card though.

thought they were both fairly straightforward calls which Webb got correct...Berbatov may well have went down easily but Agger didn't need to make the tackle and there was clearly contact....Gerrard might feel he was hard done by but you cannot leave the ground in the tackle and expect to stay on the field

FA Cup lads, what's this doing in the PL thread?!
No it wasn't a penalty, yes it was a red card, and Babel is a bit of a fool for posting that picture and will probably get fined now that Liverpool, sorry, "we", are out.

Re: The Premier League
If Webb was doing so much for United it's strange that he missed the two penalty shouts (Evans being wrestled to the ground, and Giggs hacked down) in the second half.
Liverpool, as usual, best when blaming someone else. Good to see the spirit of Benitez is still there
