Any All-Stars for the Dubs?
Bernard brogan prob lost his on sunday with his reckless kicking when it really mattered, cluxton was way off his game this year, MD macauley will prob get a nomination but not an award i wouldnt think. Anyone else? There must be a very real chance that the dubs will finish with no allstars Unusual for a semi final team

It'll be a travesty if Bernard Brogan doesn't get one. The 5 goals against us won't help Cluxton's case even if they weren't his fault.

Good summary there WB. I think this far out the only shoe-ins are the Mort, McGarrity and Brady. Bernard Brogan has no hope as you say. That was a wicked wide last Sunday.

Re: Any All-Stars for the Dubs?
Dublin traditionally do well at the All-Stars, and I'd expect them to win 2-3 this year.
Bernard Brogan is a certainty, but after that it gets trickier. The other 2 that I could see are Philly McMahon and Cluxton, McMahon probably being the more deserving of the two, but Cluxton perhaps the more likely.
Outside of that, Rory O'Carroll has a chance, but should be behind both Justy McMahon & Michael Shields. A good final from Shields should seal the FB position for him.
So, Bernard Brogan a definite, with McMahon and Cluxon strong contenders. O'Carroll a real long shot. Others will be nominated, but have virtually no chance of winning one.

Very possibly, but can't see him winning one. Dublin will probably get galf a dozen nominations, but only 2-3 awards.

Re: Any All-Stars for the Dubs?
Yeah I reckon they'll get 2, B Brogan a cert and possibly Cluxton. If there are one or two huge performances from a remaining keeper they may snatch that though I Dublin will still get another in defence if that's the case.
Would Rory O'Carroll be the front-runner for YPOTY?

From a Dub perspective MDMA would be my choice given his showing in the key position of midfield. Down have a couple of young lads and depending on how they show this weekend and a possible final then this would have a bearing - so its too early to call that one I reckon.

Another big performance in the final, and Aidan Walsh of Cork should have YPOTY nailed down. Might also pick up an All-Star if he has a big game.

You still arent won over, I take it Jayo. Personally, I thought he was the best midfielder on view last Sunday.

Re: Any All-Stars for the Dubs?
What's the criteria for YPOTY though, I thought you had to be u-21? Is McAuley that age? Also, most of the young Down lads who are performing well are around 22-23, so if that's true that could rule them out of contention. I could be wrong but I thought I heard that before.

Re: Any All-Stars for the Dubs?
Bernard Brogan is a shoe in for an All Star. I don't think Cluxton will get the All-Star this year but I said the same about Diarmuid Murphy last year.
McAuley could get nominated but there have been so many great midfielders this year he could lose out.
As far as I know the YPOTY is U23 but I stand corrected. O'Carroll had a fine year and could easily win it.

If 23 is the age limit for YPOTY then Marty Clarke is nailed on imo unless he implodes against Kildare.

Any All stars for Meath
Any All stars for Kildare
Any All stars for Longford even
It sickens my hole to see this Dublin obsession from other counties.

I don't think we really had too many outstanding performances this year apart from Seamus Kenny and Biggy so won't be expecting any all stars.

Sorry Biggy is Graham Reilly. There's been some good forward displays this year and he's probably our best chance.

Re: Any All-Stars for the Dubs?
While you can never second guess the "experts" on this one, Limerick's John Galvin must be a nail-on for a midfield berth. Depending on his ability to play on Sunday and unless he has a stinker, Dermot Earley has the other slot in his grasp..
Donie Shine will be the YPOTY....You heard if first here..
With 2 games to go Dublin look probabilitys for 2, Brogan and Cluxton..

Re: Any All-Stars for the Dubs?
I'd agree Boxty, that the first midfield slot should be John Galvin's.
After that, you are looking at Earley, Rodgers, Aidan Walsh and Paddy Keenan. Maybe even Darryl Flynn of Kildare, if he can step up with Earley absent.
With most of those still in the competition, it is still wide open as to who gets midfield.

I'd forgotten about Keenan there TC. Like you say it's between those you mentioned but I'd be prepared to take a punt on Keenan getting it.
Sunday will be a good pointer..
