Football All stars?
Who are the other 14 going to be?
And will Kevin be centre half forward or mid-field?

Apparently we are that good CJ can't get on.
I hear jelly got a great one, but I was in Newbridge in the dark watching extra time so missed it.
And OK CJ or Kevin might not score one like Jelly but me....?
I might still have it....

Down to the last four and the nailed-ons are few and far between.
James Kavanagh and the Gooch have the 10 and 13 slots sewn up....
In the frame are Philip Jordan, Coulter, Brogan, John Doyle and Cluxton despite the Meath debacle.....

The selectors will not actually have seen anyone yet as the all stars are picked on the semis and final, throw in the odd bloke someone told them did well in something else, like the league, and the odd Dub to keep everyone happy......

I presume you are on the selection committee again this year Pat. Will it be 3 (McCann and the two McGourtys) or just 2 ???

Two things.
Yes I "ghost"write Mickey Harte's piece for the Irish News but that does not give me a vote.
Secondly all Kevin has done is dominate Kildare twice. But sure, who are Kildare?

Will need a big performance to stave off Coulter/Brogan....
Charlie Harrison well in the frame for the 2 jersey. Jonathon Davey not without hope for 7...
McGrillen has more work to do to erase the memory of his horror show V Louth...

Re: Football All stars?
Unusual for a QF loser to get one but Gooch fav for 13. BB is 15 and Kavanagh is 12. Keenan disappointed v Dublin and I think at least one of our midfielders is there at the moment. Also Ross McConnell is improving immeasurably .. long may it continue ...

Gooch wil be the intrersting one - To any reader of the game once he togs out he should have one - But in any case He was a different class on Sauturday and in fact was the MOMby a country mile 0 evey pass h e makes is game winning etc etc. Brogan is also there but not for same reason- Its a big call now -easy to leave gooch but ifthey do they know knothing.

Re: Football All stars?
what about marty clarke donie shine & kelly from sligo. i prev said mcconnell was nailed on for the keeper one but i think a nomination will be his lot cluxton has it nailed 5 points and some great saves the last day out, with the limerick keeper maybe big mcveigh getting the other nomination.
i think keenan and harrison deserve ones too both had a couple fo great games

Re: Football All stars?
Brogan,Kavanagh,Gooch,John Galvin all nailed on i'd say paddy keenan and Dermot earley will fight it out for the other midfield spot, with Earley likely to get it if he gets another good game under his belt.Marty Clarke will almost certainly be put in for the fairytale factor. That young Reilly lad from Meath might get a nomination too!

Re: Football All stars?
in all fairness lads Martin Clarke has had one good game - now i know that has been enough in the past to get you an all star but i think whilst a nomination is inevitable i dont think an all star is his yet.
Two more good games though and the story would be completely different.

Re: Football All stars?
Bocerty i dont think he deserves one yet myself but i'd be inclined to think he'll be put in due to his big trip home and all the fuss that went with it

when i think of it another player who made the trip home from Australia last year got an All Star for doing next to nothing so Clarke could well get one.

He played the late Dad card a bit, as well as giving Murphy a good clatter.
I suppose Marty could say he was a cousin of Thomas Clarke. Lads get these awards in dubious circumstances of late...

Played well Boc in the league final as well though. In the frame, depending on events ahead but hmmmmmmm...doubtful as yet.

would the league even count towards an All Star Boxty - i would doubt it myself but then you never can be sure with the 'experts' who hand these awards out.

Re: Football All stars?
Dublin midfield has been getting better and depending on where we go from here they may come into the equation. Graham Reilly at 12 for Meath had a great season but Kavanagh is the better 12 - but they have moved people around in the past to give them an award - though I don't see a Meath man getting one tbh.

Re: Football All stars?
Anyone think Donie Shine will get a look in?
Id say one of the brogans will end up with one, not so sure about the gooch or the normal forwards this year.
In the middle will tell a story come the semis with formidable mid field line ups in all the remaining counties and they will use these games to decide.
