Anyone know much about sports injuries?

Got a bad knock to my knee almost 7 weeks ago playing 7 a side soccer, immediate swelling and serious pain. Got x-rayed next morning which showed nothing other than fluid round knee. attended physio 3 times over next weeks, no real improvement. Today i got results of MRI scan, " a complete tear to middle third of cruciate, a complete tear to cartlidge and internal bleeding and bruising in upper fibula bone" i didnt even know you could bleed inside a bone. Anyone ever suffer anything similar? If so what is expected full recovery time?

Think johns was a fair bit worse to be honest, i think he messed up just about every ligament and bone in and around his knee, he was near losing his leg because of busted blood vessels as well. I think he probably had all my injuries and some more

a year, with an operation. Have done very similar to both knees and one of them twice (due to the fact I came back too early and was the hero who played on it, didn't even last the first game back and ended out for over 20 months)

Jim, could only read some of your message for some reason your profile photo is coming up in the middle of your messages as is a few other posters on my screen anyway. Anyone else having this problem.

Anyway basically the physio told me there is not much i can do other than wait for surgeon and consultant to get in touch to organise operation.

I played with dodgy knees for years - there was no mention of specialists, cruciates, anteriors etc in those days, by gum lad!! I reckon my first major knee injury was as an U12 in the San Siro (Ballymun Flats pitches!)

I eventually succumbed to the knee at about 33 - winning a semi 1-0 thanks to a Jayo peno!! We won the final 3-0 with me watching on - on crutches! My knee injury over the years had worsened - culminating in an ossifying of blood - leaving a bone particle floating around the ... posh here, patella!

Luckily the bro saw my agony, made a few calle and Ray Moran took it out a few days later. Much building up and stamina work was now required - but lazy b*****d that I am that never happened! Ah sure - I went out on a high! sports injuries Icon_razz

This doesn't look good Sam...Once cartilage issues rear their heads then you're in bad sthuck!!! sports injuries Icon_mad
Personally, none of these things couldn't be cured with water in my time, but in the modern day, given your association with a form of soccerball, well, tough tit !!!.....
