College work!

I am currently doing a presention for college about how the main sports in Ireland are seen. Focusing on GAA, soccer and rugby. Anyone care to make a input into this its a interesting subject!

Rugby football and soccerball would not be considered our main sports. Your focus should be on GAA and racing. What did you make of John Oxx's letter outlining some of his concerns regarding the challenges facing the sport and wider industry and in particular the area of funding and specifically bookmakers poor contribution, there last week?

Would have no knowledge of racing to be honest!

Picked soccer and rugby because there the 3 sports I take most interest in..

You could talk about the urban rural divide and it's influence on preferred sports.
Socio-economic groupings and sports (working class - soccer and GAA; middle classes - rugby) And before I get slagged, I know this is not 100% true but it has historically been the acse.
Geography and sports (hurling areas)

Violence in sport.
Heros.

I expect nothing less than an A scoop!!

I dunno if this helps but it worked well for me last year.

Discuss the cultural identity that some of the sports align with, I used the example of comparing the Ulster branch of the IRFU and Ulster GAA, where they both cover two jurisdictions but really only represent one culture each in terms of displaying flags etc...

Maybe something like that helps!
