Kildare last year was a good game and Kildare subsequently only lost by two points to Tyrone but lets forget about Leinster - its crap after all. In 2007 we beat a good enough Derry side (not from Leinster last time I checked) by 18 to 15 and lost to eventual winners Kerry by two points in the semi. In 2006 we lost by one point to Mayo in the semis in what was regarded as one of the best games of the decade. In 2005 we drew with Tyrone in a very good game before losing a replay - Tyrone went on to win Sam.
Dublin went in to both QFs over the last two years with many neutrals expecting them to win - it wa s not to be - spectacularly. But they had played ebnough good football up to that to be considered real contenders by a lot of good judges. Yes they blew it, bottled it or whatever on the day - but were not as bad a side as either scoreline suggests.
Dublin vs Kildare was a good game, ill give you that, but it was not great. Dublin blow hot and cold, they put in an awesome performance for one game and then fall apart in the next. Never watched Dublin vs Mayo game so not going to comment. No offence to Derry but all they have won is the league and then went on to do nothing else.

Ok – hands up from a humbled Dublin fan.
Ye were unlucky to lose to Kerry in 2006 by eight points. In 2007 luck was not with you when Donegal knocked ye out of Ulster first game and then ye were beat in the Qualifier 1st round by Derry (a team that have won the League but done nothing else apparently). More bad luck in 2008 when the Ulster champions met the hurling county of Wexford (from lowly Leinster) and were beat by 5 points. In 2009 more bad luck and again only two Championship games before exit.
But feel free to slag Dublin from your lofty perch lads.

there is no doubting some of these were excellent games to watch and i personally think beating Kildare and Meath is good enough going as they are both pretty good teams. My point is their record against non leinster teams in the championship would not give me any confidence to say they are a match for anyone. The reality is Dublin buckled against Tyrone in 2005, buckled against Mayo in 2006, almost did it against Derry in 2007 (only for some fine saves by cluxton towards the end), and then were totally anhilated against Tyrone and kerry in 08 and 09.
Dublin are a decent side but they're in no better or worse a position than about 10 other teams of mounting a serious challenge against the top 2 or 3 teams

Correct me if I am wrong but were you not the one that said Armagh were on the wane? How can they be on the wane when Armagh county football has hit rock bottom? . Like you said 2006 we lost by eight points, Dublin not even 12 months ago lost by 17!!

i dont see anyone slagging off dublin, just stating the facts jayo. It was you who spoke of Armagh being on the wane. If you meant we are not the team of five years ago then you were right, "on the wane" suggests we are still regressing which we are not. We are moving in the right direction.
Asfar as your above post goes, well its complete rubbish and i can only assume you know nothing about any one of the games you mentioned.
kerry 06, we should have been out of sight at half time. We were still in the game with 5 minutes to go (2 points behind and coming back) only for a howler by enda mcnulty. game over. (its nice to be still in with a shout with 5 mins to go in a quarter final)
2007, if you dont call a goal that was clearly a square ball in injury time bad luck then i dont know what is. Not to mention being without Bellew, Ronan Clarke and McConville for the season. (Derry game included)
2008, stupid tactics beat us against Wexford.
2009 narrowly beaten by all-ireland champions in first round. Then beat by a point by a decent monaghan side.
Some embarrassing defeats in there but at least there was not one game in that period where we did not give the opposition a real game of it.

I expect Armagh to go into one of their 55 year slumps before emerging refreshed.

Re: Time for change in Tyrone?
some grumpy Armagh men on here - no offence lads but Armagh are a pale shadow of their former selves and i'd agree with P - it could be a long slump before another 'team' rises from the ashes.
You have the individuals but you dont have a team!!!
And to suggest Down have peaked is absolute bullshit - they drew with Tipperary a few weeks back and with all due respect Tipp arent exactly a team you draw with if you've peaked.

we are a shadow of our former selves (if you mean 1999-06 period), we went through a bad period from 07-09 but if anything we are improving not "on the wane".
Come to think of it i dont think there is a team in Ireland that you could not say are a shadow of them former selves. Standards are at a very low level in my opinion. I think the Armagh team of 2002 would wipe the floor with any of the current so-called top teams. Tyrone team of 05 would do the same. We are nowhere near the level we were at but in my opinion there is very little to fear from any county team (jayo bring that in and read it to the dublin team "do not be afraid, do not sh1t yourself when you are playing a non leinster team"). All joking a side we are improving but we have a long way to go to reach 99-06 standards, but ill say it again there is no team out there that good that we would fear them.
