Re: 3. Full Back
Made my arguement numerous times about Seamus Moynihan, especially at full back. Bored putting the arguement over. By the way its supposed to be the poster who nominates the player giving their reasons for nominating him not someone giving their reasons for not selecting someone. If you want a reason i will give my reason, 2000 all-ireland semi final Oisin mcconville scored 1-6 from play off him, 2002 final a 19 year old Ronan Clarke destroyed him. 2006 quarter final again he was getting destroyed at full back untill the kerry midfield got on top of Armagh and cut off the supply going into Armagh forwards. I have seen him play in the flesh 4 times, three of which he was roasted. I just think he is totally over rated (certainly not a full back anyway, i would say even the most loyal of kerry fans would even be suprised at him being selected at no 3)

Meath cheer. We are known as much for our bruising full-backs as we for Navan born comedians.
Paddy O'Brien, Jack Quinn, Darren Fay all contenders.
But Mick Lyons gets the nod.

Re: 3. Full Back
Yep - a full back the way they are supposed to be made. Raw gnarly and no-nonsense - reminds me of Sean Doherty. Never considered Moynihan a full back and thought Fay was a lovely footballer. But it has to be Lyons out of respect and sentiment!

Re: 3. Full Back
Lyons was a very good full-back, but I think that he is one of those players who has become better since he retired. To me, he was a slightly better version of Francie Bellew - good, but not great.
The best full-back for me is Darren Fay. He had everything, from size and strength, to pace and awareness. Was also a better footballer than Lyons. My second choice would be Barry Owens, a fabulous footballer, blighted by injury and illness. John O'Keefe would also be up there, as would Stephen O'Brien.
As for Moynihan, I always thought him a good full-back - he won footballer of the year in the position after all - although not as good as the likes of Fay or Owens, in my opinion.

One of my all time favourite paras of sports writing by the inimitable Con H on the back of the Evening Press back in 1991 -
"I wouldn't be surprised to hear that there are small boys in Dublin who believe that Mick Lyons is kept in a cage in Summerhill and fed with raw meat. In fact, Mick is as mild a man as you could find in the world outside football. Many people think of Mick Lyons as a hard man - I think of him as a footballer, first class" - Con Houlihan.
Beautifully put mullins - agree?

Re: 3. Full Back
I'd go for Fay myself - Lyons was a hard hoor but not as gifted in the footballing stakes as Fay was. Mind you I think the late Cormac Mc Anallen had all the makings of great fullback
