Robert Jordans Wheel of Time
While it is often accused of being over-elaborate and having detail for detail sake, there is no doubt that Mr. Jordan has created one of the most compelling and intricate fantasy series that has ever existed. He has left Tolkiens LOTR series for dead and I've been an avid reader since I first picked up the books in Delaware in 1996.
I received the 12th book for Christmas but have yet to start it. Are there any other fans or is it just Triona and me?

You legend!
I've read books 1 through to 10, and waited for book 11 to come out, when it did I read 1-11, and have waited for 12, now that I have 12 I'm going to have to start again! However I might just wait for the last 2 books (?) to come out first and then go for it.
I just knew he'd die before finishing it. But according to my friends that have read 12 Brandon Sanderson has done a fine job stitching together the bits he was given.
Have you read it? If so, what did you think of it? Don't ruin it for me now!
I'm currently reading The Runelord Series by David Farland - very good. Not up there with the Wheel of Time though. You reading any good fantasy? It's my favourite genre.
As for LOTR, that's for kids.

Not mad into sci-fi/fantasy Triona. With that in mind is there any chance I'd enjoy it?

It's more fantasy than sci-fi, not mad into sci-fi myself.
Well it's considered the greatest adult* fantasy book of all time. The three before it in the below list are all kids' books.

I've managed to get a few friends to read it. These friends would range from lads that don't read books at all, to lads that read but never read fantasy. All thoroughly enjoyed it, and are now looking for other books to read. The problem with it is though that every fantasy book you read after TWOT will pale in comparison.
Sure ask RMD, he'd be able to tell you as much as I, if not more. I tend to get carried away with things.

Only ever read Cathcher in the Rye, due to all the hype and the historical relevance etc. There's one line in that book that absolutely cracks me up! And coincidentally it's to do with reading also.
It's where the main character (sorry, name forgotten) is in his room reading and his room mate is annoying him and interrupting him as he's trying to read, and he asks him what's he reading and if it's any good, and he comes back with the dryest bit of sarcasm (I LOVE sarcasm) ever:
"Ya, this line I'm reading is great" - or something to that effect, not a direct quote.
God his name is on the tip of my tongue now! I could Google it, but why Google when I know you're going to reply to this post with the answer?!
