Christmas Dinner
Are all the new age men here getting their aprons on in anticipation of preparing a large feast on the 25th. God its sad - time was when you'd roll home at 3pm (just intime for Lizzie's speech) on the Day - fresh from a morning of spiritual (whisky, scotch etc) visiting - and park yourself at the table waiting for the War Office to serve up the bird and all the trimmings.
I imagine there are guys here who even make their own cranberry sauce! Some of ye even baste the thing - whatever that is! I just saw that irritating Supervalu man telling some woman to do it. No doubt some of ye are already pouring over recipe books and even practising dishes in preparation.
Enough lads! Reclaim and reassert your rights! Leave the kitchen to the other half - thats why you bought it for her! Get out after mass and get them into you. Do not try and upset or subvert nature's way! Men are hunter / gatherers. We will buy all the food in the lead up and even put it in the fridge etc. That is your task finished boys! The rest is wimmin's work.

Well Jayo, here's my foolproof recipe for a fine Christmas Cake:
Vodka & Red bull Christmas Cake
Ingredients:
1 cup water
1 cup of brown sugar
1 tsp baking soda
4 large eggs
1 bottle of Vodka
2 cups dried fruit
1 cup of sugar
lemon juice
nuts
Method:
1. Sample the Vodka to check the quality
2. Take a large bowl, check the Vodka again.
3. To be sure its of the highest quality, pour one shot glass full and immerse in a little red bull and drink fast in one go.
4. Repeat
5. Turn on the electric mixer, beat one cup of butter in a large bowl
6. Add teaspoon of sugar, beat again
7. At this point its is best to make sure the Vodka is still ok
8. Flavour with red bull to taste (optional)
9. Try another cup- just in case turn off the mixerer
10. Break 2 leggs and add to the bowl and chuck in the cup of dried fruit
11. Pick fruit up off floor
12. Mix on the turner
13. If the dried fruit gets stuck in the beaterers, pry it loose with a drewscriver
14. Shample the Vodka to check for tonsisticitity, flavour with a little Bed Rull
15. Next ssiffft two cups of salt. Or somehting... Who givesshz a shi **
16. Throw a pinch of Bed Rull over your shoulder
17. Pick up the can, mop the flpoor
18. Check the Vodka baby yeeeeeeaaaaaahhh!!
19. Now shift the lemon juice and strain your nuts
20. Add one table
21. Add a shpoon of shugar, or somefink. Whatever you can find
22. Turn the cake tin 360 degrees and try not to fall over...
23. Don't forget to beat off the turner
24. Finally, throw the bowl through the window, finish the Vodka and kick the dog cat... I like dogs!
25. Fall into bed

I actually dunno how to upload a pic - it keeps asking me to register with some host it or something. The only way I can put one up is copy and paste - sometimes it works - sometimes not. Have a go.

Re: Christmas Dinner
Looks suspiciously like Hans William, Baron Bentinck, 1st Earl of Portland to me!!!
Born in 1649 he was a Dutch and English nobleman who was a favourite of William Henry, Prince of Orange. The Ulster lads would know him well!!
