Crossbar Challenge - an idea for the GAA
An amateur rugby player has struck it lucky by winning a crossbar challenge competition worth £250,000.
Job Centre worker Stuart Tinner, who lives at home with his parents, hit the bar with an amazing shot from 30 metres - and all he wore on his feet were socks!
The competition was held at half-time during Saracens' 24-23 victory over South Africa at Wembley.
The 24-year-old, who plays hooker for Welwyn RFC fifth team in Hertfordshire, was the first of three supporters picked at random from the 46,000 crowd after applying to take part in the competition by text message.
He told Sky Sports: "I guess I just kicked it as hard as I could and I don't really believe what happened.
"If you're going to feel the ball then you can't have shoes on. You've got to really get a feel for the ball."
Asked if he fancied a job as England kicking coach he said: "Yeah, I'll give it a go - me and Jonny would get on all right."
After a few celebratory drinks with the victorious Saracens players, Stuart says he plans to buy a flat and a new car.
"I have already spoken to my parents and they told me to keep my feet on the ground. They saw it on television.
"This is the second best day of my life - the best was when I lost my virginity."
Saracens, who are staging four matches at Wembley this season to try to increase their supporter base, took out insurance to cover the competition prize.

I'm fairly sure that he said that he was a hooker.
Maybe getting paid was what made it such a good day?
Or was he researching the market?

not being funny but crossbar challenge isn't even that hard - try it with a hurley and a sliotar and then it would be better

Re: Crossbar Challenge - an idea for the GAA
I think they had a mini competition this year during the u21 hurling championship Bord Gais organised it, don't know what there selection process was but I'd say they didn't pick random fans cause Joe Canning was one of the players who was trying to hit the crossbar during half-time at the u21 all Ireland.
What they did was you had 5 goes to hit the crossbar from the 21 yard line and the person who hit it the most won. It would be easier to hit the crossbar in semple stadium cause its flat while the one in croke Park is rounded.
