Best City Visited?
Have been to a few and rate Boston and NY very highly, liked Copenhagen and Brussels but I think Chicago has to be my favourite.
For an American city it is relatively small - so you have all the high rise near the city centre - but its not as claustrophobic as NY. Some of the buildings are amazing - Sears Tower, Aon Building, Hancock Tower, Wrigley Building and numerous others. Some good bars - fav was the Billy Goat Tavern, haunt of Chicago Tribune hacks where you can get a beer and a burger with chips (crisps!). Good nightspots and good eateries too - Cheesecake Factory, Gino's East and the incomparable Lou Mitchells for the real American dining experience complete with friendly waitress with US drawl (not drool!). Most places are 'walkable' but the transport system is very good too.
Chicagoans are BIG into their sport - basketball, US football, ice hockey and of course baseball - none of which overly excite me unfortunately.
Home of Al Capone, Barack Obama, Oprah, Michael Jordan, Jerry Springer Ross Geller and many more.
Sights? As well as the buildings you have Navy Pier, the Art Museum, the Magnificent Mile (a must for shoppers!), the Kidney Bean!, Millennium Park and numerous others.
People are a friendly bunch too and its a fairly laid back place. If you get the chance - go!

Actually was in Galway a few times and Paris once now that I think about it.
Is Navan a city? If yes, then Navan would be the best city I was ever in.

did like Hiedelberg a lot when I was there, great international crowd, long shopping street, castle, good food, good buses, great river - pedalos - O'Reilly's pub, a very good busker from Denmark on the Hauptstrasse and brilliant ice cream for 70cent just down from him.

Re: Best City Visited?
If we're talking cities it's got to be New York for me, one of the best times I've ever had. Incidentally, while there I got served by one of the best barmen I've ever had the pleasure to see at work in a pub called Devine's in Yonkers. He was a native of Dublin who'd spent a few years in Birmingham and jumped ship to New York, obvoiusly Birmingham wasn't what the brochure had promised!
Honourable mentions go to Dublin, Melbourne and Paris.
I'd like to say Bangkok too but it's all a bit blurry!

Re: Best City Visited?
Rome is the nicest and most interesting city I've been to. Some beautiful churches or basilicas as they call them, the Colosseum, Pantheon and the Trevi fountain. Architecturally, a magnificent city.
Then throw in the Vatican, the years of history, St. Peter's square, the Papal blessing on Sunday, wonderful experience whatever your belief. I watched Munster v Leinster 2009 in an "Irish" pub off the via del Corso where Arthur's finest were 4 euro and the place full of Dubs.

Would love to go there all right. I've heard nothing but good things about it.

We should start a new thread, most expensive rounds. I odered 2 pints of Kronenberg in a bar in Montmartre in Paris for the wallet emptying price of 18 euro! And they wonder why there's no binge drinking on the continent?!

I'd say Rome alright, the cobbled streets, blistering heat and great landmarks.

Newry is a nice town. I've indulged myself in the Brass Monkey there where Ross Carr was mine host at last call.
Lisburn on the other hand is a kip.
