Kilkenny v Waterford
Anyone giving the blaa's any chance here at all?? Need a big game from Eoin Kelly to day. The pitch is a sham, fellas slipping and sliding all over the place in the football. A shame really as they'll have the surface destroyed for the serious business of the hurling. Shouldn't impact on the result though, impossible to see past KK

Aye, hard to look past Kilkenny alright. For Waterford to win they'll need everyone on top form and be hoping for Kilkenny to have an off-day, but I can see another ruthless display from the Cats coming up.

Re: Kilkenny v Waterford
Strange that he hasn't brought Hickey back. Maybe Cody expects Dan to appear on the edge of the square. Dan V JJ has history, Dan caught the first ball he faced against JJ, and JJ caught the next 200.
Hogan and Cha back, you reckon Kilkenny are going through the motions. In 2007 maybe Waterford, but not now.

That point there sums up KK, Tyrrell hounded Mullane down in the corner, ball upfield where Power robs Brick, across field by Eddie Brennan, won by Cha, handpasses to the King who was waiting to ponce all along, over the bar. Awesome, simply fookin awesome

Re: Kilkenny v Waterford
Great game of hurling here, KK missing goal chances they'd usually score blind-folded, definitly something missing from that team from last year. If Mullane can get on top of Tyrrell then Waterford in with a serious chance. Shane Walsh is a legend, wonder what Hicky makes of this on the sideline?

Re: Kilkenny v Waterford
Eoin Larkin has got a couple of the Waterford lads booked by deliberatelly dropping into the tackle so it looks like a dangerous high challenge. The ref should be seeing this

Re: Kilkenny v Waterford
Kilkenny get the job done, Waterford redeem themselves after last years disaster. A sharper referee mighted have noted how KK engineered themselves frees at crucial moments and called them up on it rather then award them willy nilly. Great game though, Brick Walsh, Tony Browne, Eoin Kelly 2nd half excelled for Waterford out on the wing. Tyrrell, Cha, Tennysonn for the cats but King Henry once again he's the best in the land

Tyrrell and Tennyson are two fantastic hurlers. Never saw either of them have a poor game.
But surely Henry Shefflin is one of the greatest players ever - if not the greatest. He just makes everything look so simple - pure class!

No Moss - I didn't think they would be beaten from the final whistle of last year's final tbh. It'll probably be Tipp in the final - like a red rag to a bull for a Kilkenny man!
ps Davy Fitz watching too many English soccer interviews - 'all credit to the lads' x 20......

They seem to win nearly every 50/50 ball, and Shefflin's accuracy of the score is just incredible. Eoin Kelly had a great game, what did he finish up with 1-10? Must be gutting to score that and end up on the losing side. Hard to see the cats being stopped now. Dan Shanahan should have been introduced sooner.

Re: Kilkenny v Waterford
I remember 2004 and 2005 when Cork clinched their 29th and 30th titles and were very vocal in their boasts about being the strongest hurling county. Don't think it went down well on the Noreside. Four years later Kilkenny are on 31 - heading for 32.

Re: Kilkenny v Waterford
Kilkenny never looked like losing, despite a great display by Waterford.
Kilkenny still miss Hickey, although JJ is not a bad substitute but not as "ruthless" as Hickey.
All year they seem to be playing within themselves. They could have had 6 or 7 goals today, the two runs from Power being an example, and a few points taken by Henry which may have been goals if it had been closer.
Waterford could have done with someone on the line, who would have moved Prendergast on to Henry when he was running amok. Eoin Kelly should have been on the wing from the start and Big Dan has never done well against Kilkenny.
For the last few years Tipp have been vaunted as Kilkenny's nearest challengers. If they make the final, I fear Kilkenny will step in up and possibly destroy them. There is a four in a row at stake here.
This year the Cats have been winning by 5 points instead of 18, but do not look under pressure. Larkin, Shefflin, Brennan, all seem to be playing with something in reserve.
And those reserves. Hogan, TJ Reid, Lynge, Dalton, absolutely scary.
I think they will win this year, and next which will be an 8th medal for some of them.
2011 could be interesting with Tipp and Galway.

Re: Kilkenny v Waterford
Apart from the opening ten minutes Kilkenny were always at least 3-4 points ahead of Waterford, even after a goal late on they were still leading by 3 and then scored 3 unanswered points. Hard to see Tipperary or Limerick beating them in the final. I hate the constant reffering to the league final in which Sheflin didn't play.

Re: Kilkenny v Waterford
Was anything said about Davy's substitutions? He took off four forwards and somehow the two biggest jersey kissers ever stayed on the field. Mullane and Molumphy never hit the ball out of their way all day. Mullane tried but everything went against him. The second best Eoin Kelly did well but hit a lot of wides.
I suppose Kilkenny have subs like TJ Reid and Richie Hogan, Waterford have two Shanahans to bring on, thats one difference.

Mullane had better days but in fairnesss to Davy, to take him off would have signalled a white flag on Wfords part. Pity he didn't do it against Galway! Kelly improved immensely once moved out. Wford did their best and just about played to their best but KK had more than enough even without coming near their best. This is scary!
