Claims the Gooch wouldn't have made it in Dublin.
You couldn't make it up!?! How was this lad an intercounty footballer? Clearly his knowledge of the game matches his on field ability. What a tool. But it gets worse, he tries to justify it by saying Gooch was too small as an Under 16!!! Jason Sherlock, Jim Gavin, how tall are they, Vinny?
Luder.

Re: Vinny Murphy
Could it because, he couldn't make it for Kerry.
to those not in the know the bold Vinny transfered to Keirns O Rahillys (Tralee) during the 90's (JC help me out here was it he got a job coaching GAA or something like that)
Threw his lot in with Kerry but was never picked even thoughhe had the Bimber Liston pleading his case.
It wasn't till after they (Keirns O Rahillys) got rid of the bauld vinny (who transfered back up to the pale and into the Dublin squad for a couple of years they finally went on to win a county title around 2002 or something like that.

Re: Vinny Murphy
Some player, especially at the hurling. But saying Gooch WOULD have made it in Dublin is not news.

In fairness Loyal you're not representing his story in total. His point was that the Dublni underage structures are flawed in that they would have passed over a talent like the Gooch. He reckoned that the Dublin setup only looked for guys who were the right physical package and not those who had talent but not yet the physical side.
In essence he was complimenting the Kerry structures for being able to nurture talent like Cooper.

Re: Vinny Murphy
Yep thats the crux of what he was saying RMD - not like Loyal to distort or sensationalise at all.
And Vinny was a (successful) Kerry hurler as far as I know....
