Munster U21 Hurling Final
Just watching this match and despite the fact that Waterford have totally dominated the first half, they are heading in 3 points down at half time.
Both sided have some fantastic hurlers and Clares free taker (didnt get his name) is putting them over the bar from his own 65! Unbelievable!
Maurice Shanahan will be sure to start for Waterford v Kilkenny.
Looking forward to the second half

Re: Munster U21 Hurling Final
There won't be a cow milked in Clare tonight! That 21 team should have been playing for Clare in the Seniors, some great forwards, Colin Ryan, Caiman Morey, John Conlon, Daragh Honan and Nicky O'Connell done trojan work round the middle. Stars of the future, Liam Markham not bad either. The Waterford players weren't built like the Clare lads, outmuscled by a more physical side.
Where will the hurling dominance of the Banner end?

I take it Clare won?
Anyone know who won Ulster tonight as I couldn't make the game?

I heard Derry were playing.
Therefore, the other team won, Patrique.

Re: Munster U21 Hurling Final
Derry beat Antrim in the last two finals, what in effect is tgye Antrim senior team, made up of the 04/05 cracking minor teams.
But still lost to Derry.
Jimmy Magee thing is in Dublin. Besides, they ask about referees and nonsense like that.

Re: Munster U21 Hurling Final
Fraher Field in Dungarvan is a very tight pitch. I reckon I could put the ball over the bar with a puck out.
Great result for Clare though, I can't see Kilkenny or Galway or the token Ulster team stopping then from winning an All-Ireland. Morey, Ryan and Honan are stars of the future as well.

That says it all Loyal. Anyone from the power house of hurling that is Meath would know.
Clare had a very good side in 1977/78. They had a reasonable side in the 1930s, and a reasonable side in the 1990s.
look out for a Galway V Kilkenny final, unless Antrim beat Kilkenny.

Re: Munster U21 Hurling Final
I can't see Galway beating Clare. The Clare Full-back was immense tonight, Joe will do his usual, tap over a few frees and let everyone else do the hard work. Morey, Honan, Ryan will destroy any defence, including Kilkenny. This is one of the best u21 teams I've seen in a long time, suspect you feel the same Patrique?

Great to see Clare getting some much needed silverware. Hopefully they will be able to transfer to senior grade in the next few years.

Good win for Clare alright CLG, they deserve a boost there! It'd be good for hurling to see them back challenging properly again!
It's really hard to believe that it was their first Munster Under 21 Title!

Were they not robbed last year?
Not that it mattered, as I think Kilkenny annihilated the robbers.

Re: Munster U21 Hurling Final
The problem with Clare's final last year was that they seemed to completely forget some of the rules of hurling - particularly that where the 'keeper is not allowed to step out of the square when taking a puck-out. It should be pointed out that the Clare goalie was reminded of this on at least one other occasion in the game when he was penalised for an infringement of the rule.
The game itself was very close, Tipp mounted a good comeback early in the second half to draw level after being about 6 points down, and it remained tight until the 70 minutes were almost up. With around 30 seconds left to play, the referee awarded Clare a 20m free, the resulting point of which would surely have won them the match and the title.
However, at the other end of the pitch behind the Clare goal, one of the umpires had his flag in the air and was attempting to attract the attention of the referee. The ref noticed this after awarding Clare the free and went back to see what the issue was. The umpire reported that the Clare 'keeper has stepped out of the square AGAIN when taking his last puck-out. Rules are rules, so the referee deemed it nescessary to penalise Clare for breaking one, and subsequently reversed the decision, replacing Clare's 20m free with a Tipperary 65. The 65 was put over the bar for the winning point.
Here things got nasty, as the Clare fans, obviously sore losers, felt robbed - but rules are rules and the referee went by the rulebook.
The scenes afterwards were disgusting, I was happy to get back over the border in one piece!

Re: Munster U21 Hurling Final
The thing is though sami this rule is not constantly implemented. It happens at least once or twice in a game where the goalie stricks the sliotar outside the square but that does not excuse the behaviour of some of the Clare fans on that occasion.
