Re: Antrim V Tyrone USFC **Final**
I think this is a very interesting aspect of Tyrone play - unique to them and perfected especially over the last two years and the last 12 months particularly. So will teams come up with a system to counter it? No one seems to have done yet!
Even if they do has the wily Mr Harte soemthing else up his sleeve? Likely - very likely!

Re: Antrim V Tyrone USFC **Final**
Antrim face a similar conundrum to Mayo this coming Sunday. Best case scenario for them would be a plucky performance full of spirit and graft, albeit ending in defeat, followed then by a favourable home draw in the qualifiers and thus a very real possibility of a place in the QFs.
Worst case scenario is that they get steam-rolled, start dropping their heads and lose all zest for battle and are demolarized completely going into the qualifiers. Tyrone are capable of doing this if they really turn it on. Hope it doesn't happen though, theres no evidence of animosity between these two that Im aware of and Tyrone will probably aproach this a bit like Kilkenny approached the Leinster hurling final against Dublin. They won't go into overdrive unless they really really have to. I'd probably give Antrim a good fighting chance against most teams but theres no way I can see them actually beating Tyrone. Even if they put in a great performance and rattle Tyrone, I think the red hands experience coupled with the weight of recent history will conspire to deny the Saffrons as is often the case in such games.
Hers hoping to a good game

Re: Antrim V Tyrone USFC **Final**
Antrim players need to look at themselves, their clubs and contrast that to Tyrone.
That builds confidence, and loses any inferiority complex. If you polay for St Gall's or Cargin you are going to walk on any Tyrone club.
As for nerves, do 21 year olds care enough about anything to get nervous?
Yes, Tyrone are hot favourites, and should win, but there are ways for Antrim to perform well.
The most im[important thing for Antrim is what happens afterwards, win, lose or draw.
In 1970 they had foundations and building material and were denied by circumstances.
This time they have signs that there may be something to build on, improved displays by the schools, although nothing like the situation around 1970 when they were winning Hogan and Vocational titles.
But they need to build, Sunday is just another day.

Tyrone would look good, theyre playing Antrim - no direspect.
If Antrim get a goal it could be theire, they just need a power play period. They are having short bursts but thats it. Antrim have literally handed Tyrone the game, if it wasnt thanks to ANtrims sloppy play they could still be in it.
The referee is definitely on Antrims side.

They could play 'til next week, there's no way Antrim are going to get within 6 points again!

Imagine scoring 11 points in an Ulster final and losing! At least I have Cunningham in my Fantasy team!

Antrim's Number 9 (don't know his name) should've got sent off for kicking McMenamin.
Tyrone were good but they should've and could've won by a lot more.

Should've surely, last time I bet on Tyrone with a handicap! I should have known though, they rarely hammer teams, this time of year anyway, and they were only going to be going through the motions. Still thought they'd win by more though!

Is that a wind up?
In that incident the TYRONE no 9 (don't know his name) tried to decapitate Gallagher with his elbow. He missed. Ricey got involved, sat on Gallagher's foot, Aodhan playfully kicked him. It WAS Ricey, that's allowed.
Incidentally that number 9 whose name you do not know has played in about 4 all Ireland finals.

Wonderful sentiments.
This incident happened right in front of me, apart from the attempted elbow by the Tyrone Number 9 (must look at that excellent programme I bought) there was nothing there.
And as the number 9 missed, there was nothing there either.
Antrim have embraced the "basketball" type game, complete with non contact.

Yes indeed, its a pity they didnt bring a few more footballers though to help their number 13, whoever he was.

We all know paddy Cunningham is not a great player, but he is a very good free taker and that is why he is on.
He even managed to score from play yesterday. So leave him alone, why single him out for criticism?
