The Dubs - the true Kings!
Like them or loath them it has to be said that the Dubs bring the most to the GAA and without them our games would be .... well, it doesn't bear thinking about!
Kerry may have the most titles, Ulster teams may be flavour of the month, Galway may have panache but for sheer swagger, crowds, colour, excitement, money (!), history and spectacle, its hard to top the Dubs.
Many people 'pretend' to hate the Dubs and some try to do us down at every opportunity but we should see this for what it is - the green eyed monster at work. Teams and fans who play Dublin at a packed Croker can only dream of generating such an atmosphere and such excitement.
Secretly everyone wants to be a Dub. Wants to be part of it and know that Dublin winning Sam would be epic.
To the true Dub its the one missing piece of the jigsaw. Its what we deserve and what the game needs. 2009 may well be the year that a million Dubs celebrate while another 3 million people pretend to moan - but are secretly delighted .... and a little jealous! Ah the ould Dubs - everyone's favourite second team!

Re: The Dubs - the true Kings!
The annoyin thing about Dublin (one of them at least) is their over-inflated sense of self-importance. I mean, what other countys fans would could out with this rubbish of "the GAA wouldn't survive without us". Are there really people who are daft enough to believe this? The GAA is way bigger than any county and rest assured it would countinue just as good as ever without the Dubs (or any other county).

Thats what me Ma said too Jayo
They dont hate you little Liam, they are just jealous
RMD, if the Dubs pulled out 10 years ago the GAA would be stuck with a superb stadium they could not afford and they would be in serious shite!
Am I wrong??? cos up to semi final stage, nothing outside Dublin games comes even close to bringing in 40,000, not to mind 75,000 average at first second and third round Leinster Championship Games!

Liam - if there was no Dubs for the last 10 years then Croker would look pretty much how Landsdowne looks today!

Yes you are wrong Liam, we would just have opened up sooner to the rugby and soccer ones. They have generated more money in the two years than the dubs have in the last 10. Biggest pay day for the GAA is all ireland final, full house very year and not a dub taking the field in 13 years. Two of the Ulster finals that were in croker brought 60000 to them. Munster hurling finals are normally a full house in Thurlus, about 50000 i think.

I see not much has changed, Liam you still think that because someone makes a point they have fell for your windup. We all know you Dubs love to claim that, the problem is many of you do actually believe it. Maybe not yourself or Jayo but many Dubs do believe they are that important.

Re: The Dubs - the true Kings!
Good things about Dublin....
From my own experience they have a decent bunch of fans, they know where they went wrong in a match and they accept it. Like most teams in the top 5 they have a good chance of winning Sam, but like Armagh they blow hot and cold, one day they can play magnificently and the next they're crap.
Bad things about Dublin....
They build themselves up too much and expect to win even before the end of the provoncial tournament and they have very good players but nowhere near as good as the likes of Kerry and Tyrone. They lack players that can turn games on its head and Cluxton is not the best goalkeeper in Ireland. Leinster isnt as competitive as it should be....but hopefully that will be very different this year!

I dont think its the Dubs fault they get hyped up before a match Its the Media's fault.
