The Wexford v Limerick controversy has once again opened up the hawkeye debate with all sorts of solutions thrown around - 13 metre posts, catching nets, 16 metre posts etc. There is a simple answer here. If you just send up a magnetic force field directly up from the crossbar with a few thousand volts through it then the ball will burst every time a point is scored. Simple. And cheap too if you're from Cavan or Leitrim or the like.

I'll have you know I am qualified in quantum physics. As a matter of fact Transcendental meditationers argue that they can fly by achieving a lower ‘quantum-mechanical ground state’ and that the more people who practice TM, the less violent the world will become. This last idea at least is in accord with quantum mechanics, to the extent that if everyone on the planet did nothing but meditate there wouldn’t be time for violence. Now thats fair logic for ya JS!
