Only Fools and Horses
Against my better judgement I've agreed to buy 11.1% of a horse, Its not something I have the foggiest clue about but figured like going to vegas, or crashing a car its one of those costly mistakes you have to make at some stage in your life
Its a 3 year old that has never been saddled and Ive heard all the stats about how many horses never even race etc.
Anyone ever been in a syndicate or owned a horse ?

Fair play to ya Omar. I've never been involved directly myself but have had reason to be entertained in parade rings on plenty of occasions. I think its one of the greatest achievements you can aspire to as an Irishman, to own your own racehorse. Have ye named him yet, Stringer Bell might be a good name for your one

Jumps it is Mossbags
Colm Murphy is the trainer and picked/bought the horse for the lads at the Goffs sales on wed/Thurs this week. I only coughed up today as one of the lads' wife decided that a new kitchen was a better way of spending his hard earned money, so not up to speed on the plans yet.

Re: Only Fools and Horses
Never owned one myself but I've heard they can work out very expensive in the long run, trainers fees and entrance fees. If its a good horse however the prize money can be used to pay for all of that.

OMAR in a "Sean Quinn type commitment" here.... Can you acquire a racehorse through a CFD scheme???
Well, good luck with it anyhow. If ye're stuck for square bales of top quality hay you know where to come..*
*GAATipster discount not applicable on sales of hay unfortunately..

Are you actually saying you went to a butcher and bought a leg of horse meat?

To date I have not come across any means of finanical leverag in said investment however I do think you might be onto something here.
for E.g
You invest the money for one horse however you actually get ten. Whatever bill you get for vets, food and training simply pay it ten times. When things don't work out you get ten seperate cans of Reynolds finest dog food but also get a bill for ten bullets
. If one of the horse does happen to win the QE11 diamond stakes which would be a remarkable acheivment for unsaddled horse of stayer pedigree you get to watch lizzies crystal presentation 10 times.

Re: Only Fools and Horses
Well Omar proposed the name Prop Joe for the nag in question but it seems the Syndicate has settled on PAPADOC - majority rule - Ive never been a fan of democracy.
It seems the name is reflective of the bloodline rather than an homage to the Tonton Macoutes and the duvallier regimes. Horse fully broken (jockey on back) without incident
Im advised that this is more favourable than horses than cannot be broken but less favourable than horses that express a degree of spirit. Still too early to make a call on the potential but if all goes well possible outing in early winter.
It seems all pedigree and history would suggest horse would be fond of mud.

Re: Only Fools and Horses
Horse had his first run on the gallops this morning. Went to the Curragh with a few cheltenham stable mates and did a mile and a half.
He stayed within a length of a champion contender, don;t know if this means he is good or the other horse did bad
but in any case its positive progress
All going well he is entered for the Punchestown Festival bumper but might have a go in a bumper before that.
