Yoga ?
It has been recommended to me to take up yoga, specifically Hot Yoga as part of a heavy duty training routine.Has anyone ever tried this or know anything about it, looks a bit effiminate to me but I have an open mind about lots of stuff so that wouldn't bother me.

Do you do yoga rmd? That would be a hell of a recommendation in itself if you endorse it.

I've been meaning to for years (struggle a lot with back trouble) but never have. I'd love to though.
A few people at work have tried the hot yoga. Said it was good. You'll sweat bucket-loads though.

Im told its great for the joints, bones etc and preventing injury. Might well give it a try out.

Re: Yoga ?
I went to Yoga classes for two years at work.
absolutely wonderful. especially at my age as all I really need to do these days is regular strenuous stretching and tone work outs. when I went into a gym I couldn't stop myself throwing 250 pounds onto a bar and then nearly killing myself trying to bench press, despite not having lifted weights for some time.
The relaxation side of yoga, the breathing and such is also great and was the biggest contributor to me stopping smoking after 43 years.
Effeminate? Probably, Roy Keane does Yoga.

Re: Yoga ?
My ballet teacher really recommended it for us because it helps strengthen your core muscles better than anything. Also helps if you want that perfectly toned stomach and buns of steel.

Not since I resigned my position over Cheltenham-gate, its true. I have been aske back onto the cabinet but am currently considering my options a bit like Micky Harte.
Rmd, Roy Keane and Patrique, it couldn't come any more highly recommended this effiminate yoga lark. I think I might try it. Whatever else, I'd say it will be a handy enough place to score some chicks while Im waiting for the Tag Rugby season to start.

Yoga has long been recommended for GAA training routines. I have a great coaching manual from the early 90's produced by Pat Daly, which covers everything from drills to weight training to mental preparation to diet. It also has half a dozen pages on yoga.
I'd say give it a go. After all, it isn't as effeminate as the ballet exercises that Evander Holyfield regularly did as part of his trianing routines!

Re: Yoga ?
My brother recommended to do hot yoga in particular. Great for strenghting a weak back and improving flexibility in general
He mentioned that there happens to be a few attractive 'young wans' at the same classes as him.
He also said that those said ladies happened to emit a lot of gasses, durin the stretches, probably as a result of the exreme heat of the room, so CAUTION!

Re: Yoga ?
Well Trevor Mortimer had alot of injury problems over the past few years. He was very injury-prone and he was recommended to do yoga in order to improve his flexibility and strengthen himself against injury. It has been very effective for him, and seeing his transformation I would recommend it to anyone.
I had a great 'oul time doing it last year! 'Twas very fun altogether!
