All Stars

Every year 15 players are chosen as All Stars, a team of the year if you will.
Sometimes, players who have been poor all year and come good in the semi final or final get one - a lá Eoin Mulligan in 2005, Kieran Donaghy in 2006 etc; Some players are overlooked purely because their team does not make it to the semi final or final - a lá Sean Marty Lockhart in 2007.
Some players are nominated in positions that they have never played in just so that the hacks can include them in the team a lá Seamus Moynihan in 2006 and Sean Cavanagh on 2008.

Now that we have but 3 games left, can people cast their minds back to those hazy sunny days in May when the Championship began with a whimper and pick a team based on:
- Best player in that position - are they head and shoulders over every other player in that position this year?
- How well did they play in all the games that they played - quality over quantity No use a player playing well in 2 games after playing crap for the previous 4.
- Ye get the gist.

Shinners to be fair though Derry got 2 All Stars in 07 Fergal Doc the 3rd who got a nomination, but I get your general idea.

The SS is just one half daycent performance away from an all star.

Shinners - if we pick now we fall into the same trap - I will reserve judgement till second semi - cute hoor that I am!! C'mon the SS though!

Lockhart in 2007? Was he in the running for an All-Star that year?

Funny how the all stars work though as you say, for a while the likes of B Brogan and maybe Doyle looked set for one based on their performances, but now the likes of the SS are in pole position! Still though, it'll be dominated by the finalists of course so predictions even now could be a good bit of the mark.
