wexford -v- kildare
Well kildare seem to be strong favourites (2/7)against last years beaten all ireland semi finalists wexford (10/3) really dont think there is that much in it to have such a price on wexford no doubt kildare are favourites after there impressive league but they still didnt win anything. and while wexford had a night mare of a league after the highs of last years league and championship but they can only get better than this years league showings and nothing will be expected of them which will surely stand to them and while i know mattie is a huge loss i still think the panel is much stronger than last year with the addition of shane cullen diarmuid kinsella and damien carter and with lyng in top form why not kildare will cause us problems in the middle a place we struggled last year at times but kinsella will add a lot to that sector and the loss of mattie is huge it will be helped by cullens aaddition helping to fill the gap in last years county final the to men were on apposing teams with Forde shooting 10 points (5 from play) and Cullen knocking over 9 points (5 from play). thats fair shooting for 2men and there was serious arguement over who was the best forward on show that day? so what is the general feeling towards this duel. can wexford come out on top at great value of 10/3 or am i looking at it through purple and gold coloured glasses

agree with most of what you say. I still believe the judge and jury are out on carter but i'm there to be swayyed. Forde a serious loss- gone for the year by all accounts. Shane don't know if he'll fill that gap certainly more mobile and prepared t oget "stuck in" but Forde is class- he was the difference between us last year. Kinsella is a good option for either m idfield or the half back line. He was snaped up by Slyvesters in Dublin this year ( they must be in with a shout up there what I know they have Kinsella, Roche Wexford, Mortimor Mayo, Brady( I think) Cavan). Graham Molloy also an addition.
Expect Wexford to win this as I fell Kildare a overrated but i'm sure loyal will correct us if we're wrong

Loyals busy so I'll do the correcting here Jimbo. Yes Kildare are over-rated but should still see off a broken down Wexford outfit with minimum fuss. Wexford collapse has being staggering and reminds me of what happened to Sligo the year after they won Connacht. They simply fell apart. And now without Mattie Forde I'd be majorly surprised if Wexford were to play more than two game this Summer

valid points and I know the rest of the country still believe we are a one trick pony team. Mattie is a major loss but Wexford are evolving and we have unearthed a few new forwards to add to last years team. to judge us on the league is fair enough but I will say this about us Red Barry played no league games - quite possibly our most influencial player also Ford, Lyng, Banville, Roche played shag all as well. Cullen played games at CB and as a WB. Philip Wallace missed the first three games and was late back to training.
Not making excuses (I know it sounds like I am) but I firmly believe that the Wexford you see in the championship will not resemble anything like our league form.
I'I do a loyal on it get stubburn and say we'll win the All-Ireland.

Re: wexford -v- kildare
Having watched Kildare against Offaly and now Wexford one thing that really struck me is that Kildare tear into a team for the first 10-15, build up a decent lead then completely take their foot off the gas. When it looks like the opposition are coming back at them, they step it up for another few mins and then finish pulling up.
Maybe Geezer wants to keep them under the radar for a bit by not having them completely annhialate teams but other teams they come up against might not let them get a foothold in the game for the first 15 mins and its hard to see where they could make up that ground.
They beat 2 teams who havent had the best of starts to 2009 so excuse me if I dont get caught up in the hype.
