Darragh McGarry
few will forget this young lad aged only 11 at the time climbing the steps of Croke Park as he helped Henry Shefflin raise the Liam MacCarthy Cup in 2007. In the most tragic of stories young Darraghs mum had been killed only a week earlier in a fatal car crash, Darraghs father was the Kilkenny goalkeeper James.
In a rather poignant moment young Darragh yesterday climbed those steps again to collect the All-Ireland club JHC trophy after his side Thomastown defeated Fullen Gaels of Warwickshire after extra time in Croke Park. At 18 he has followed in his fathers footsteps and captained the side as goalkeeper.
Well done young man and no doubt your mum was looking down on you full of pride.

Re: Darragh McGarry
It was meant to be for him. The regular goalkeeper was sent off in the semi final, heard he made some great saves towards the end. Fair play to him.

wasnt aware of that HG - it certainly seems that it was meant for him. A nice gesture by his teammates to let him collect the trophy

Cool story Boc. Funny the way things turn out. Fair play to him, there won't be a cow milked in Thomastown for a week....
