Re: GAA Betting Game
I'm up for it Niamh!
Is there a set limit that you can bet in a single week? I can see someone throwing the lot on a "sure thing" and losing it all!

No it's a virtual £100 and you can gamble virtual ,money on e.g, you tell me you want £10 on Derry to win the league, I minus £10 from your pot and if they get beat you have a deficit of £10 but if they win you reciveve £100 (the £90 win puls your £10 stake back)

Some Questions I'd like answered
1. What type of bets can you do?
2. Is it just singles or can you do doubles, trebles, patents, lucky15s, Super Yankees, Goliaths, Union Jacks, etc?
3. What happens in the unlikely event that you go bankrupt?
4. Presume it will be Paddy Power odds?

I guess if that happens we could have a buy in system like 10 pounds for 10 points?

Re: GAA Betting Game
The way they have it set up on the Gaelic Life is good I think, would it be a bit like that Niamh?
If you go bankrupt should you be allowed back into it? Sure then you could throw the lot on one bet and be allowed back in even if you lost it all.
And I'd also be curious as to the type of bets like Loyal says. You should be able to do normal accums anyway.

You can do doubles and accumulators as well as singles

Have yet to discuss ti but if that happens yuo could be a) out b) buy in again at a rate of a point per point) orgetr another 100 but at the end this 100 will be taken out of your total so if you go all in and lose, then you can get another 100. but if you end up with 150 you 100 buy in is taken away so you only end up with 50.
4. Presume it will be Paddy Power odds?
Yes it'll be PP odds

Thants where i got the idea from. You can do accumulator bets, it adds it all up for you on pp anyway so you make your stake and il take the money for yout pot and let you know your estimated return.
As I say, we can trial run it for the last 2 weeks of the league matches to get our bearings.

Re: GAA Betting Game
Sounds good then Niamh, was just about to ask if this was a trial run before the championship! That's the best job as whoevers doing it can get used to how it works, and any problems can be ironed out ahead of the championship one. Would the money be reset ahead of the championship then or stay the same?

Re: GAA Betting Game
Well instead of giving someone €100 at the start of the championship, how about you get €20 say every week.
Because with the €100, someone could get up to say €500 and someone else, could go down to €25. That gives the person in the lead a massive advantage.
Also, what would be the minimum bets? Could you do say 20c bets?
And finally, will bets be restricted to just matches or can we make use of additional markets such as first goalscorer, handicaps and the like?

Yes money will be reset, also the good thing is people can join in at any stage and have neither an advantage or disadvantage, I might have a poll on what way people think going bust should be dealt with.

£1 bets lowestto begin with, the distribution can be sorted out on a poll, sure wil know at the end of the trial one which method should be used for championship.

Thanks, Boc. I'm going to run it something similar to the format of the one between the 4 writers in the Gaelic life.

god no Niamh i could listen to Brolly and read his articles all day long - he calls things as he sees them and is not into sitting on the fence or brown nosing like some other pundits. The one guy i dont like on that paper is that Kevin Mc Gourty - now there is a guy who could talk shite all day - i mean who died and made him mr GAA know all. In particular an item he wrote after the tyrone county final about violence and the whole Noel Mc Ginn episode and he went out the next week and got red carded for something similar.

Re: GAA Betting Game
You can sort of make out the format for the odds on the weekends games(If you can't try to edit and it should bring up the format in the way I typed it), that is the current odds and the odds I will be using unless there are any significant changes of which I will update you.

Unfortunetely, the privilege of sending and recieving PMs has been taken away from me. And if I had my way, it would be taken away from everyone else too.
Armagh_02: Could you please give me back that privilege for the purpose of this competition?

Given your vehement objection to PM's Loyal, would you not findit a bit embarassing to start using them now?
It should be working for you now.
