Well the hour is nearly upon us ... So to my Donegal friends - may the best team win (Dublin) and if, as sometimes happens in sport the best team doesn't win, may that be Dublin too!! C'mon ye Boys in Blue!

I just asked an innocent question. They keep changing the rules - there was confusion a few weeks back when the minors had to play extra time. No need to be sarcastic. I'll take it there'd be a replay. Tks

Have to laugh at the Hill booing Donegal for lateral handpassing but don't Dublin have a wall across the half-back line.
Dublin yet to score from play but Bernard Brogan is doing a good job of showing for the ball despite being marked by about seven Donegal backs!
Game is being played on Donegal terms though.

Dublin are crap atm...can't tackle. Donegal are playing the way they have all year and are putting in the tackles. Overall...BORING! Donegal will put an end to the worst ai debate anyway.

Jayus Loyal you were giving out about old posters not coming back and when we have new posters you chase them away. Connolly not given any space like against Tyrone. Similar to the Wexford match, Dublin struggle against this sort of defence, Hard to watch but what can ya do?

Dublin are tackling okay but they could commit a half-back or two forward from their kickouts. I'm surprised they have tried kick it long to Brogan a few times.....never a hope that would work.
But this is by far Donegal's most impressive performance of the championship. Brilliant tackling and pressure - of course, the slippy conditions have made things harder football-wise.
Game will open up more in the second half and we should get an interesting finale. But for now, we must sit through Spillane's drivel on what has been a most fascinating game.

Agreed. A side like Donegal playing in an All Ireland Final would have been a new low for football. Thank fook Dublin wonJonsmith wrote:Congrats Dublin, Thank GOD they won.. As Spillane said, a victory for football. Best possible final.

Re: Dublin v Donegal AI Semi Final - 28 August 2011 Páirc An Chrócaigh
I had to miss the last 20 minutes so I guess I'm a bit surprised Dublin won - given how the game had unfolded until that point. But well done to them, not sure how it was won although I guess to an extent they out-Donegaled Donegal (Dublin didn't concede in the last 30 minutes).
There is going to be some poor posts in the short-term about this game and it's a pity I'll have to read them. Same goes for Donegal posters. But the critics will get their answer in the years to come as a new face of Gaelic Football emerges. Not as if Dublin don't play like Donegal (not a criticism before Jayo, Hipster or Mullins have a go at me - just needs to be pointed out).
Big difference is Donegal have perfected the defending aspect of their gameplan whereas Dublin might have something to work on (though no score conceded in last 30 minutes is impressive). Dublin also have better forwards, though under-utilised them in the first 50 minutes. Plus they are not as rigid as Donegal.

Re: Dublin v Donegal AI Semi Final - 28 August 2011 Páirc An Chrócaigh
A shocking game alright. And to nail one lazy 'myth' - Dublin do NOT play like Donegal. Nobody plays (wrong word) like Donegal. 13 fooking men behind the ball. I dunno where to start. It was a terrible example to young kids about how to play the game and thank God Donegal lost. If they won I would not have watched the final. I spoke to a few Donegal people after the match and a lot of them were clearly embarrassed - I would be too. If Dublin played like that I would not pay to see them.
Right from the start - watch TV and see McGee stamp on BBs foot after 30 seconds, the time wasting injuries - which cleared up when Dublin hit the front. It was cynicism of the highest order. I was never as glad to win a match - I would've hated them to win playing that sh1t.
OMAR, RMD - decent folk - but that was abysmal today and an affront to the thousands who travelled. If it is justified by having Ulster medals in pockets then you are welcome to them.
This game best parked.

Best summed up by a diehard Dub friend on leabing Croker - 'jaysus' he said 'if they played Meath I'd cheer for Meath.' True story.
