Sunday Game
I see Spillane is back on the panel this year. About time IMO. Can't believe he was left in the presenters seat for so long when he was terrible at it.
Ger Loughnane is back on the hurling panel too.
The presenter wil be announced in the coming week.

Re: Sunday Game
Dara O'Cinneide would be a good choice. Although I havent seen him much when I have he is a very fair analyst.
Re: Sunday Game
Bernard Flynn was always one of the best and they rarely ever gave him the gig. He has the perfect balance of not being overly controversial like Brolly or O'Rourke but also he's dosen't sit on the fence like O'Cinneide and Tohill can do. I'd say Brolly and O'Rourke will keep the daytime show as together they make great TV. Be interesting to see what they do with Spillane. Also, I think there could be a familiar face about to try his hand at this too. We shall see.
Cyril Farrell and Ger Loughnane are brilliant together too, they make great television so I hope they are back on the daytime show of the hurling games. Maybe add in Duignan too.

Not gone on O'Cinneaide myself. Any man who is incapable of criticising his own county is not worthy of a place on the SG panel IMO.

Re: Sunday Game
Dara O'Cinnéide isnt the worst-i think he's generally good, but i just cant warm to joe brolly. I think he can be biased and sometimes personally attacks players which is uncalled for. O rourke is OK. TBH, i prefer the analysts they have on TV3. David Brady, Nicky English, Peter Canavan and Paul Earley-quality analysts. Better line-up than RTE in my opinion.

For the record, I personally love Michael Lyster find him very impartial and a great speaker.

Re: Sunday Game
Des Cahill has been tipped for the job. I'd say he'd do a good job - has a good sense of humour and knows his stuff.
Maybe Pat Kenny is changing to the Sunday Game now that he's leaving the LLS - he has the pedigree after the wonderful job he did on the 125 celebration show ....

Surely Miss Cantwell will get it?
Member the RTE sports personality last year?

Re: Sunday Game
Brolly and O'Rourke together are a good team, the make for great televison at times, and are the best pairing for the live games I think. Spillane was useless as the presenter, looking forward to seeing him as an analyst again where he can speak his mind, should be entertaining also!
Des Cahill could be a good choice for the new anchor alright. O'Cinneide would be another interesting choice but perhaps the best way to go is to take someone who is a good, solid presenter who can lead a show rather than a former great player who mightn't lead the show well(like Spillane).

Brolly gets a bad press, alot of people take him very literally but it's clear its all tongue in cheek.

I think he's very good myself and as you say it's usually tongue in cheek, and his column in the Gaelic Life is always an excellent read aswell.

I remember reading it the time Fergal hit Rory Kavanagh in the 2008 Championship q/f, he was just saying how RK played his injury and said something along the lines off 'RK awoke bridelfy from his coma to see if the Referee has seen his display'
Quite funny

Re: Sunday Game
Yeah he can be funny alright, sarcastic too! He can be a bit biased in terms of Derry sometimes, but sure I suppose that's to be expected, and again it's tongue in cheek.
A few weeks ago there he was giving out about Monaghan's style of play and giving out about Banty complaining about the rules. Some ones were complaining to the Gaelic Life but I thought it was quite funny! You wouldn't know whether or not to take him serious sometimes. It'll be interesting to see what he has to say in the weeks coming up to the Ulster Championship! He always gives the cousin a good write-up anyway!
