Councillor convicted for Harney Assault

She had some cheek to refuse to pay to Ms Harney's chosen charity, and then to refuse to do community service? The judge should have charged her with contempt if she refused to do the community service or imposed the 2 month sentence instead of suspending it. Thankfully she will lose her position as a local councilor now, hopefully her replacement will not also be a violent criminal.

She is a member of the Socialist Republican party Eirigi - they see themselves as Ireland's answer to the Taliban or some mad group of militias like that. The like of her and her communist friends should not even be on the streets, let alone elected to local councils.

Did mary harney not tell the mother of a child with cancer who couldnt afford drugs needed by her child to live that "her child" was not her concern?
Just a question, could have sworn i seen her say it and hear it!

Re: Councillor convicted for Harney Assault
This is not a thread for making up stories to insult Mary Harney, this is about the behavior of the violent criminal who assaulted her and then refused to give the money to the appointed charity.

That would also come under the heading of "Things that are not relevant to this thread"
And mullins the thread is about the behaviour of the violent criminal in court and the judge's actions which I alluded to in my opening post. Comments about what Mary Harney may have (but probably did not) say to a member of the public are irrelevant to the thread, if you want to then by all means set up another thread to tell lies about our former Ministers.

Tell lies/Make accusations against former Ministers. NSG made a completely unproved claim about Harney which if nothing else is irrelevant to the thread.
Assault is a violent crime. The criminal concerned was convicted of the assault. Hence....

Don't see the relevence to this thread JC. There's already a thread about the solicitor. It's a joke that he's not been charged, but if the Dublin Archdiocese don't bring a complaint to the Gardai there's not a lot can be done about it.
This thread is about an elected representative who seems to think that the laws of Ireland don't apply to her.
There's many a thing that a lot of people in the country would like to do/say to Mary Harney, and throwing paint on her would be at the very mild end of the scale. BUT, decent people have the sense to realise that petty violence such as this is what cowards do. Challenge her, debate her, point out her mistakes and hypocricies. Something as mindless demonstrates nothing more than an inability to argue her case, and the fear of being defeated. It's cowardly and it's pointless.
I read in a paper yesterday evening that this woman is now refusing to pay the fine issued to her by the court. Evidently she seems to think that the rule of law doesn't apply to her.
If she was treated like any other criminal, she'd be found in contempt of court, and locked up until she pays the fine, but given that the judge has ignored her previous contemptuous actions (refusing to do the community service as ordered) I doubt much will happen.

Criminals View
THE Southside politician who could face criminal charges after she poured red paint over Health Minister Mary Harney said she feels vindicated by the support she received for her actions.
“I am also lodging a formal complaint to the Protocol Committee,” Cllr Breen said. “I never did ask for her resignation, as that is what she wants - more publicity.”
Cllr Minihan also claimed that she had even received support from some Fine Gael councillors, a claim that was dismissed by Lord Mayor Breen.
“Show me the names then,” he demanded, when it was suggested that some of his colleagues had spoken to Cllr Minihan to express their support.
Cllr Minihan said she had no regrets over the incident and, in fact, felt vindicated because of the “overwhelming” support she received from members of the public.
“I have no regrets at all,” she declared. “I have received a lot of support. There were polls carried out on a radio station with 87 per cent in favour of what I did. Obviously, there are those who are against what I did. Every one in 10 or 15 emails that I got said it was the wrong thing to do and they are entitled to their own opinion.
“But I have been getting a lot of support and phone calls from other councillors.”Minister Harney was launching a primary care and mental health centre at Ballyfermot last Monday week when Eirigi councillor Louise Minihan, who was elected to the city council when she was a member of Sinn Féin, threw red paint over her.
Cllr Minihan was then arrested and gardaí investigating the incident have sent a file on the incident to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
Possible charges could include a breach of the peace, causing criminal damage and assault.
But Cllr Minihan remained unrepentant for her action last week, saying that she was prepared to go to jail for her principles. She also said she felt vindicated by the massive amount of public support she claims to have received following the now infamous incident.
Speaking to Southside People, Cllr Minihan denied that her actions amounted to a publicity stunt and insisted that it was a “symbolic protest”.
“That is why I used the red paint,” she said. “To symbolise the blood that Harney has on her hands for the disastrous policies she has made.
“I could face charges,” she acknowledged. “If I go to jail it will just show people exactly what kind of country we live in and what has been done to it with the bankers and the developers getting off. That would prove that there is one law for those who have to take all the cuts and the pain and another law for the wealthy who get away Scot free.
“I have never been arrested in my life before,” she added. “I have never been in trouble at all. This is the first thing I have done to step out of my comfort zone to show how angry the feeling is out there. I would be prepared to go to jail. I think I was correct in what I did.”
The Lord Mayor of Dublin, Cllr Gerry Breen (FG), described the incident as a “dangerous action” that would be condemned by “right thinking people”.
However, he denied that he had called for Cllr Minihan’s resignation and had instead asked her to “reflect” on her actions as an elected public representative.

Am aware B&W - and was pointing to it for JS as I would like to know his views on it given what he is studying.
And for the record what this individual did was a disgrace and if anyone else showed the contempt she has they'd be banged up. I also heard that the Cherry Orchard group have said they do not want her compensation.

Harney deserves all she gets, violent crime for a evil women, morals are only moral when its what you want not what you think.
Get down from your moral high grounds and look at what this women was highlighting in her actions, fair play to the FG mayor not asking her to step down, bit of common sense prevailing.

NSG I was talking to a friend of the family today,he has a 24 year old daughter handicapped and in a wheel chair-In the last 18 months all the HSE have done is cut the funding to look after his daughter-He said to me what type of society would make cutbacks against the disabled..
These stories are Harneys legacy..
I asked him what did he think of Harney being attacked--He said he doesn't condone it- But he wouldn't condemn it either..

The stories you hear of Harneys legacy are a disgrace she should be put in front of an international crimes court, but then again we'll let her of the hook and try and convict someone who vented their anger against her!
I have more morals than this woman, and these people who defend her must have no morals! Protecting the rich isnt moral!
