Queen's Visit
Well it looks like this will happen some time later this year. With UK tourist numbers down we could do with all the help we can get so this visit would give a real boost. I reckon we could get her to throw in the ball for the All Ireland Final. Now that'd be something!

Re: Queen's Visit
if Mary McAleese through her head in that really would be something, you would have thousands of brit soldiers invading the morning, loads of problems solved in one go!

Re: Queen's Visit
Is tye Queen going to Dublin? Jaysus she must be rich if she can afford the prices there.
Prince Charles was down the road from me the other day in St Malachy's Chapel, at the edge of the Markets area.
Didn't even know he was there.

Nonsense - I have my great Grandmommy's UJ flag that she waved back in 1900 when Queen Vic (not the pub) arrived. Looking forward to hanging it out the window and waving it again. Sure aren't we all Jackeens ....

Invite her for a visit by all means, as long as she brings her own security. The millions spent on the protection organisation would be far better spend elsewhere at this moment.

Aye but it could pay for itself many times over in terms of increased tourism revenue.
She could bring a few of those bucks that were here on 15 Feb 1995 .....

Re: Queen's Visit
This presents a tremendous opportunity for this Forum to launch itself onto the world stage.
I'm not concerned either way about the visit, but given that she's visiting Croke Park, GAATipster should prepare a suitable presentation (GT balaclava) or whatever, together with a suitably prepared scroll to mark the occasion.
We are a GAA forum and therefore fully entitled to mark the occasion on behalf of our many thousands of members
I was going to seek suggestions for the scroll, but that lies with RMD and those at the top of the tree. We should be allowed however, to tweak the phraseology, given that it's coming from us all.
The Dauber and myself will look after presentation gift itself (out of our own pockets I'm proud to say)...
Should HQ turn their noses up at this we'll leg it to Whineline.....No such thing as bad publicity......

Given her love of all things equine - maybe a scroll commemerating Irelands most memorable day over fences
the 1986 gold cup - with some sort of a corny reference about Forgive and Forget's galant part in that day - Croke Park -and the Empire.

The Forgive and Forget (equine) inference doesn't sit too well with the residents of Boxty Towers, I'm sad to report..
On that memorable day in the Cotswolds, Boxty was guesting with the owner of said F&F, the late Tim Kilroe and his good wife Loretto...
Whatever I'll ever say about Roscommon and their people (none of it good)... on that night, in the Kilroe house in Manchester, the pride Tim took in the race the horse (F&F) run on the day, the history, not alone the finish, with no loss of face between the main protagonists, their enjoyment of the occasion would bring a tear to a glass eye...
This was before the "dig-out thingy" but the late Tim Kilroe (Creggs) was a full solid gentleman...**

Re: Queen's Visit
Any chance the GardaĆ would get in the spirit of the occassion and wear some of those
Beefeater outfits.
They can fairly tuck into a Carvery of Beef and Spuds if you ever witnessed them in action around Jacksons or the Harcourt hotel at lunchtime

Fashion designer on the Late Late talking about doing things with "modesty and class" in relation to the royal wedding.. Also took a shot at Croke Park. Deserves to be shot with a ball of his own dung.
